LA to Host 2028 Olympic Opening Ceremony at Coliseum and SoFi
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Inglewood Mayor James Butts on Thursday announced an unprecedented dual-venue format for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games opening ceremony that will utilize both the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium.
For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony on July 14, 2028, will take place at two locations, continuing the innovative format introduced in Paris during the 2024 summer games, where athletes kicked off the games by boarding boats and floating down the Seine. The closing ceremony will take place on July 30, 2028, at the Coliseum.
