San Bernardino County man arrested for alleged animal abuse in dog's death
An Inland Empire man was arrested on suspicion of animal abuse after a dog was found with fatal injuries.
On May 16, San Bernardino County deputies responded to a possible animal abuse incident on the 1700 block of Eagle Pass Road in Needles around 4 p.m.
A witness told deputies that the suspect, James Day, 51, of Needles, had reportedly been abusing a dog several months earlier. The dog was left with severe injuries that eventually led to its death, the witness claimed.
Authorities began investigating and later arrested Day in connection with the animal's death. He was taken into custody for animal cruelty/abuse and remains in SBSD custody. He is being held on $50,000 bail as he awaits a court hearing.
No further details, including the nature of the dog's injuries or whether the dog belonged to the man, were released.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Corporal J. Gregory at the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department at 760-326-9200.
