Landmark College names new president

The Board of Trustees of Landmark College has named the school's fifth president. Dr. James Dlugos is currently the interim president; he will take the position permanently starting May 1, the school announced Tuesday. Dlugos was president of St. Joseph's College of Maine for 11 years before retiring in 2023 to start a higher education consulting firm with his wife. He was named interim president of Landmark College in summer 2024 following the departure of Dr. Peter Eden. Landmark is the first college to serve students who learn differently, including students with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism or executive function challenges. Board of Trustees Chair Barbara Epifanio said Dlugos has developed programs for neurodivergent learners. 'Today is a great day in the life of the College,' she said. 'Through the search process, we came to realize he had the right vision and demeanor to be the next president.' Dlugos holds a doctorate in English from the University of Virginia, and a master's and bachelor's degree from Boston College. He has served as academic vice president of the College of St. Elizabeth in New Jersey, and has held administrative and faculty roles at Washington and Jefferson College Pennsylvania. 'Landmark College's singular focus on neurodivergent learners makes it a distinctive and special part of the American higher education landscape,' Dlugos said. 'I'm delighted to have the opportunity to bring my experience, passion, and commitment to learner-centered environments to this wonderful institution and its amazing students, faculty, staff, and trustees.' Landmark said an inauguration ceremony will take place at a later date. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
