Mexico brings suit against media company over MrBeast pyramids video
May 15 (Reuters) - Mexican authorities have filed a lawsuit against a firm they say worked with popular YouTube creator MrBeast after he produced a video at the nation's ancient pyramids, including Chichen Itza, that violated the terms of government permissions. Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) said in a post late on Wednesday that it had given a firm representing MrBeast, who boasts 395 million subscribers on YouTube, permission to film at the sites but not monetize the video. MrBeast, whose real name is James Donaldson, uploaded a video on May 10 entitled "I Explored 2000 Year Old Temples". In the video's caption, he thanks local authorities, including the INAH, for allowing him to film, while he also touts products. INAH said it was lodging the suit against a firm called Full Circle Media. "The permission granted to Full Circle Media ... did not authorize ... the use of images of the archeological site for for-profit advertisements of private brands," INAH said. Reuters contacted a local production firm with that name but did not immediately receive a response. MrBeast also did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In MrBeast's video, the YouTuber and his team climb on pyramids and explore hidden tunnels in the southern states of Campeche and Yucatan. They are escorted through the pyramids by several guides, including one person identified only as Arthur, who is seen wearing an INAH vest. "I can't believe the government is letting us do this," MrBeast says at one point in the video.

‘Toxic': Viral man debate kicks off and divides
Could 100 men defeat one gorilla in a fight? That question has men in a chokehold right now, and yes, I'm being serious. YouTube personality James Donaldson, 26, known as Mr Beast, has more than 32 million followers on X and has caused a stir by claiming he wants to test the theory. It's unclear who the original thinker behind such a random question was, but it has been asked on Facebook, TikTok, and Reddit, and now, YouTubers are weighing in. Mr Beast, who is known for creating viral challenges, and giving away cash prizes, entered the gorilla chat. He tweeted on X, 'Need 100 men to test this. Any volunteers?' That tweet amassed more than 17 million views. To add some facts to the equation, Gorillas are known for their incredible strength, which is way more than that typically possessed by human men. They can weigh over 220kg, lift up to 10 times their body weight, and are estimated to be at least 10 times stronger than the average human. It prompted a major cultural insight into modern masculinity because thousands of men claimed they were keen to test the theory. Even if you're prepared to set aside the animal abuse, there were thousands of replies that highlighted how much men, even hypothetically, just wanted to prove or brag about their physical strength. 'How much? I'm ready,' one wrote. 'I can do it,' another claimed. 'Please I'll do it,' someone else wrote. 'I'm in!' one man declared. 'I volunteer as the first one to sprint to the gorilla,' someone offered. 'I'm down I don't care about anything anymore,' another confessed. 'Every man has a price,' one wrote. 'Toss me in. You'll need three less man,' someone bragged. Among the volunteers, people were also trying to apply reason to the challenge. 'This is why men don't live as long,' one joked. '100 idiots would be easy to find,' another remarked. 'I think people really underestimate the true power of what a silverback gorilla can do,' someone else said. 'You can call me old-fashioned, but I don't think it would be very chivalrous for 100 men to fight Gorilla,' one said. Someone else argued that this ongoing discourse about the gorilla is a prime example of the 'arrogance' embedded in toxic masculinity. 'Women ruin everything I swear. I can't even talk about 100 men vs1 Gorilla in peace without them doing think pieces calling it 'toxic masculinity,' one complained. The thread went so viral that billionaire Elon Musk weighed in and joked, 'Sure. What could go wrong?'

YouTube Star MrBeast Crashes Formula E Race Car on His Second Lap
Social media influencer James Donaldson is one of the biggest YouTube stars in the world, but you probably know him by his online handle: MrBeast. However, while he may have the internet acumen to rack up more than 370 million subscribers on YouTube... it seems his driving skills could use a little work. During a Formula E event in Miami on Thursday, MrBeast lost control of the Formula E GEN3 Evo he was driving and spun into the wall. Thankfully, the only injury was to his ego, and the car didn't appear to be badly damaged. So, what was MrBeast doing behind the wheel of a Formula E car capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds? He was driving as part of Formula E's "Evo Sessions" event, held at the Miami International Autodrome on March 5 and 6, which brought together 11 of the world's most-followed personalities and gave them the opportunity to drive the electric racers. MrBeast was piloting the car that is usually driven by German driver David Beckmann, following a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT safety car. The first lap went off without a hitch, and MrBeast appeared to be getting confident as he got closer to the safety car. That confidence likely eroded quickly, however, the second he spun the car 360 degrees while coming out of a left-hand turn in sector 1, causing the car to clip the wall on the left side of the track. Donaldson was able to quickly jump out of the car; however, the session was stopped while the car was hauled back to the pits. Based on social media footage from the scene, no one appeared to be too bothered by the incident. MrBeast was all smiles as he described his ordeal, saying that it felt like he'd spun four time before hitting the wall and asking people around him to explain what had happened. Consider MrBeast's Formula E crash just another example of how difficult it is to control a proper racing car. If you want to be a world-class driver, it takes a lot of dedication and practice — no matter how many YouTube followers you have.
