MasterChef viewers lash out over use of 'endangered' ingredient: 'Enough'
The grand finale of MasterChef Australia is just around the corner, which means that it's only a matter of time before someone gets to lift the trophy over their head and walk away with $250,000 in prize money. Laura Sharrad, Callum Hann and Jamie Fleming are the last three standing, after a heady elimination challenge that saw fan favourite Depinder Chhibber sent home. Viewers have not been shy in expressing their complaints this year (are they ever?), making it clear they have disapproved of several aspects of the show. From the Back to Win format, the contestants' "lack of hygiene" and the judges allegedly playing favourites, the audience has had enough gripes to last a lifetime. However, with just a few episodes to go, fans have found one more thing to be irritated by, and it's unexpected, to say the least. In round one of Monday's elimination challenge, the chefs were tasked with deciding whether to cook sweet or savoury dishes with the ingredients presented to them, knowing that whoever ended up in round two would have to cook the opposite flavour profile with an unknown ingredient (so, if they cooked savoury in round one, they would have to make a sweet dish in round two). "When Laura has ants on her food, she gets praise, when I have ants on my food, I'm told I need to wash my dishes. Where's my favouritism?" another quipped. ENOUGH WITH THE FUCKING ANTS #MasterChefAU — Yak (@AussieYak) August 4, 2025 "Someone needs to keep Laura away from all the ant hills," a third chimed in. "Ants are gonna end up as an endangered species soon," yet another person wrote. "Freaking ants again," another said. ‘NO STRIKE': SEA Airport aircraft fuelers reach agreement with employer
150 aircraft fuelers at SEA Airport were poised to walk off the job after teamsters voted unanimously Tuesday to authorize a strike. But by Friday, the Teamsters and employer Swissport had reached an agreement and averted any strike. According to Jamie Fleming, a union leader with Teamsters Local 174, the 'nonstop marathon of negotiations' on Thursday and Friday included members of Swissport's highest levels of management, some of whom flew across the Atlantic Ocean to participate in the bargaining. 'After the unanimous strike vote on Tuesday, we told Swissport they needed to return to negotiations with a renewed sense of urgency to reaching a deal or they would be on strike,' said Teamsters Local 174 Secretary-Treasurer Rick Hicks. 'We are pleased to announce that they did exactly that, bringing in managers with decision-making power and industry knowledge that allowed us to work together to reach a deal we know our members will be proud to ratify. I applaud management's commitment to investing in our members, and our attention will now focus on the consortium of major airlines at SeaTac, as well as the Port of Seattle management, to provide the funds necessary for a living wage in the Seattle market. We welcome any local politicians who are willing to assist in this endeavor.' Members will vote on the 'fully-recommended' offer next Tuesday. KIRO 7 has reached out to Swissport for comment on the agreement.
