Met Police officer not guilty of sexual offences
A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been cleared of a number of sexual offences, according to police. Jamie Howlett, 34, formerly of Horley, Surrey, had been charged with five counts of rape, one charge of controlling and coercive behaviour, one charge of sexual assault by touching, one charge of sexual assault by penetration and one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm. On Friday a jury at Guildford Crown Court returned a verdict of not guilty on all the charges after a five day trial, Surrey Police said. He had earlier pleaded not guilty to all nine charges.
