OUTsurance Group Insiders Placed Bullish Bets Worth R51.8m

Multiple insiders secured a larger position in OUTsurance Group Limited (JSE:OUT) shares over the last 12 months. This is reassuring as this suggests that insiders have increased optimism about the company's prospects. Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether. Trump has pledged to "unleash" American oil and gas and these 15 US stocks have developments that are poised to benefit. Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by CFO & Executive Director Jan Hofmeyr for R20m worth of shares, at about R42.27 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (R76.09), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price. While OUTsurance Group insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. Their average price was about R51.44. To my mind it is good that insiders have invested their own money in the company. But we must note that the investments were made at well below today's share price.
