Deve Gowda urges people to join hands in the fight to get State's share of Krishna water

The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda has appealed to people to join hands in the fight to get the State's share of Krishna water as per the Bachawat verdict and make Karnataka green. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating 'Janarondige Janata Dal' and receiving facilitation in Deodurg of Raichur district recently. Mr. Gowda said that a political fight is needed to get the irrigation projects implemented in the State, as such projects help improve the lifestyle and financial stability of the people and bring them to the mainstream. Specifying his fights for farmers, the former Prime Minister said that he has fought for farmers throughout his public life and he will continue to do so till his last breath. 'I am now 93. I don't know how many more years will I live. But, even at this age, I am ready to fight for farmers,' he added. Launching a scathing attack on his political opponents who have criticised him for doing dynasty politics, Mr. Gowda said: 'We are not doing dynasty politics. It is the party that gave us an opportunity to grow in politics.' Mr. Gowda said that the State has financially become bankrupt due to the Congress government's guarantee schemes. The BBMP is facing difficulties in paying salaries to its employees, he added. 'The State government should think of resuming the Pancharatna scheme announced by H.D. Kumaraswamy when he was Chief Minister to help people from the poorer sections,' he advised it. Lauding MLA Karemma Nayak for her work, Mr. Gowda said that she is doing her job effectively for the people of Deodurg constituency. 'My blessings are always with her for doing more such work,' he added. Meanwhile, Mr. Gowda unveiled a statue of his at Miyapur Cross (Rama Nagar Camp) in Deodurg taluk. Ms. Karemma Nayak, MLA Sharanagouda Kandkur, the former MLAs Venkatarao Nadagouda, Hanumanthappa Halkod, Bandeppa Kashampur, Raja Venkatappa Nayak, M. Virupaksha, Mahantesh Patil, Basanagouda Patil and others were present.
