Woman forced to wipe off makeup to match passport photo at airport: 'You're asking for trouble'
A dramatic scene unfolded at a Shanghai airport when a woman was asked to remove her makeup after facial recognition scanners failed to identify her, reported the New York Post. The incident was caught on camera and began circulating online after it was initially shared on Chinese social media platforms. The video shows the visibly embarrassed woman using wipes to scrub off her makeup while a person, believed to be an airport staffer, is heard reprimanding her from behind the camera. 'Wipe everything off until you look like your passport photo,' the employee is heard saying sternly. 'Why would you do your makeup like that? You are asking for trouble.' It remains unclear whether she was ultimately allowed to board her flight, but the machine reportedly didn't take kindly to the amount of contouring. Social media reactions came in swiftly, with some mocking the situation and others sympathising with the woman. 'This is cosplay. Not just regular makeup,' wrote one user. Another joked, 'It's not like she was able to walk around with a filter on in real life, right?' One comment read, 'She was already wiping her makeup off and embarrassed enough. There was no need for you to keep going on like some naggy boomer.' Another viewer pointed out, 'This is so humiliating,' while a third said, 'Poor girl should not be laughed at. The guard hurt her feelings. Not nice and not funny.' Someone also criticised the person recording the incident, calling it an act of 'bullying.' Interestingly, this isn't an isolated case. Brazilian model and influencer Janaína Prazeres, known as the 'perfect woman' by Playboy Norway, recently faced a similar problem. She was reportedly detained for 40 minutes by immigration officials who could not recognise her due to multiple cosmetic surgeries. The influencer, who has spent nearly $1 million (approximately ₹8.3 crore) on more than 20 aesthetic procedures, including nose jobs, a body lift, and full facial harmonisation, admitted, 'I always knew this could happen at some point because my appearance has changed a lot over the years.' Following the ordeal, she immediately updated her passport photo. 'I didn't want to go through that kind of embarrassment again,' she said, adding, 'Perfection has its price.'

Humiliated pssenger forced to scrub off heavy makeup because her face didn't match her passport: ‘You are asking for trouble'
It was a glam slam at the gate. A woman flying out of Shanghai was forced to scrub off her heavy makeup at airport immigration because the facial scanner couldn't recognize her. The viral video, shared by @wchinapost and originally posted on Chinese social media, shows the mortified traveler cleaning her face with wipes while a person behind the camera — believed to be an airport worker — scolds her. 3 The cringey clip, shared by @wchinapost, shows the red-faced flyer scrubbing off her glam as a scolding voice — likely an airport worker — lays into her off-camera. Instagram/@wchinapost 'Wipe everything off until you look like your passport photo,' the alleged employee demands. 'Why would you do your makeup like that? You are asking for trouble.' The now-infamous clip, which has racked up thousands of views, subsequently shows the flier scrubbing off 'bridal-level' layers of cosmetics. While it's unclear if she eventually made it through security, the scanner certainly didn't approve of the contouring. Viewers were quick to pile on the snark. 'This is cosplay. Not just regular makeup,' one viewer observed in the comments. 'It's not like she was able to walk around with a filter on in real life, right?' another quipped. 3 It's unclear if she ever made it past security — but her contour sure didn't. There was no need for you to keep going on like some naggy boomer,' one defender declared. 'This is so humiliating,' another noted, while a third chimed in, 'Poor girl should not be laughed at. The guard hurt her feelings. Not nice and not funny.' Someone even called out the person filming for 'bullying' the makeup-wrecked woman. But she's not the only one whose passport pic didn't pass muster at an airport security gate. Model and influencer Janaína Prazeres, dubbed the 'perfect woman' by Playboy Norway, was recently detained for 40 minutes by immigration officers after they failed to recognize her surgically enhanced face. The Brazilian beauty, who's dropped nearly $1 million on 20 cosmetic procedures — including a body lift, nose jobs and a full facial 'harmonization' — admitted, 'I always knew this could happen at some point because my appearance has changed a lot over the years.' The snafu was so stressful, she rushed to update her passport photo post-trip: 'I didn't want to go through that kind of embarrassment again.' 3 This isn't the first time that a glammed-up passenger had trouble getting through immigration or security. Many experts stress avoiding makeup on a flight for your skin health. Getty Images 'Perfection has its price,' she added. 'No matter how thick the makeup is, the face shouldn't be unrecognizable, right?' asked one commenter. 'Isn't it time to upgrade the equipment?' Until then, flyers might want to tone it down — or keep the wipes handy. Just in case your glam gets flagged by the glam police.
