Xishan Primary School responds to mum's bullying claims, says son was injured by sibling in alleged assault

Xishan Primary School responds to mum's bullying claims, says son was injured by sibling in alleged assault Xishan Primary School has responded to a mother's concerns over alleged bullying incidents involving her son and daughter. Stomper Nurul Altakhi, shared with Stomp that her son in Primary 3 was allegedly injured on two separate occasions this year. She also described the events in a Facebook post. In one incident, he was reportedly pushed and landed on a metal bar fence and was sent home with an ice pack. Three months later, he was allegedly 'assaulted' and later referred to KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH), where a police report was lodged. The mother also alleged that her younger daughter, who is in Primary 1, was 'sexually harassed' by a classmate in the library, who later 'bullied' her in class and during recess with a group of other students. The family only found out after the girl wrote a letter about the incident, which they discovered the next day. She claims that the school's updates were inconsistent and that attempts to raise the matter with MOE were redirected back to the school. A police report was lodged, but she said the authorities could only advise the school on next steps. "How can we guarantee our kids' safety in school?" she asked. In response to a Stomp query, Xishan Primary School principal Mrs Jane Chng said the school is aware of the incidents raised by the parent. "For each incident, we have carried out the necessary investigations, and our teachers have provided the required care and support for our students," Mrs Chng said. "We have engaged the parent on multiple occasions and have addressed the concerns with sensitivity and due consideration for all parties involved. "Of note, in the alleged assault on her son, the perpetrator was one of her other children. "We have also been in contact with the various students involved, and their parents, to provide support. "This includes close monitoring of the students' well-being, providing counselling, and implementing intervention measures where needed. "The safety and well-being of all our students are taken seriously and any act of violence is not condoned. "We are committed to rendering the necessary support to all who are involved, and will continue to manage these situations sensitively, balancing respect for the families' privacy with the need to clarify the facts of the incidents. "We will continue to partner parents, and concerned parents may wish to contact the school directly. "We note that police reports have been lodged for the incidents." Nurul has since updated her Facebook post to acknowledge the school's response and said she considers the matter closed.
