Oman, Netherlands discuss developments in Yemen
MUSCAT: Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, met on Tuesday with Janet Alberda, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen. The meeting discussed regional developments, the latest updates on the Yemeni issue and ongoing efforts to reach a settlement. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Ahmed bin Hashil al Maskari, Head of the GCC and Regional Neighbourhood Department; Stella Kloth, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Sultanate of Oman, and several officials from both sides. - ONA

Iraq and the Netherlands sign academic protocol with IHE Delft
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, sponsored the signing of an academic protocol with the IHE Delft Institute of Water Education in the Netherlands on Monday. "The signing of an academic protocol between the ministry and the IHE Delft Institute of Water Sciences comes within the framework of cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of the Netherlands," according to a statement by the Ministry - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. The Ministry noted, "The protocol comes into effect on Monday, May 26th, 2025, as it includes strengthening the context of scholarships and cooperation opportunities between the institute, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, universities, and research centers, in addition to developing joint educational and research programs to address water challenges." During a press conference held on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Janet Alberda, the Minister emphasized "the importance of understanding in the field of mutual scholarships within the "Study in Iraq" program, capacity building, skills development, training programs, curricula, and academic programs related to water sciences and their specialized fields." In turn, the Dean of the IHE Delft Institute of Water Sciences, Eddie Morris, expressed his "happiness at the signing of the cooperation protocol with the Ministry and the agreement on student, research, and academic exchange between Iraq and the Netherlands." He highlighted "the seriousness of working to ensure the success of the program and cooperation between the two institutions."
