Scottish LGBTQ+ badminton tournament held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility

Badminton players from across the country took part in the Scottish LGBTQ+ tournament held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility.
The event brought together players from across the country to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion, and showcase the spirit of sport in a welcoming environment.
The tournament featured enthusiastic participation from individuals of all ages and backgrounds, reflecting the growing commitment within the badminton community to fostering equality and acceptance.
Attendees enjoyed competitive matches, social activities, and networking opportunities, all within a supportive and inclusive setting.
Provost of North Lanarkshire Kenneth Duffy, who attended the event, said: 'I am delighted to see such a vibrant and inclusive event take place here at Ravenscraig.
'Initiatives like this not only promote sport and fitness but also reinforce our community's commitment to diversity and equality.
'Congratulations to everyone involved in making this tournament a tremendous success.'
Tournament organiser Janis Hunter added: 'Our first tournament in 10 years was a fantastic success.
'Looking ahead, we're excited to host another event next year, likely in May or June, with the goal of welcoming at least 100 participants or more.
'We aim to grow each year and attract players from different nationalities to participate in this Scottish event. Above all, this is a safe and inclusive space for everyone.'
This event marks a significant step forward in promoting inclusivity within Scottish sport, and Badminton Scotland looks forward to supporting future initiatives that celebrate and empower the LGBTQ+ community through sport.
