Gov. Landry, new commission to create permanent memorial of Jan. 1 attack in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has ordered the establishment of a memorial honoring the victims of the Jan. 1 terror attack in New Orleans.
The executive order was made Wednesday, April 23.
'This senseless act of violence has shattered lives and shaken our State. We grieve with the families and friends of the victims and stand united in our resolve to remember and honor them. This Commission is committed to ensuring that the victims of January 1st are never forgotten. Through a permanent memorial, we will honor their lives and create a lasting place of remembrance, resilience, and unity for years to come.'

Changes coming to Ponchatoula Strawberry Fest
He adds that the memorial will ensure the memory of the 14 lives lost and dozens impacted is preserved.
The new French Quarter Terrorism Attack Memorial Commission will lead the efforts in creating the memorial and will include:
Five victims or family members of victims
The First Lady of Louisiana, or her designee
The Senior Coordinator for Victims Advocacy in the Office of the Governor
The Lieutenant Governor, or his designee
The President of the Louisiana State Senate, or designee
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, or designee
The Mayor of New Orleans, or her designee
The New Orleans City Council President, or designee
A resident of the French Quarter
A business owner in the French Quarter
A law enforcement officer
The commission will deliver its recommendation to Landry in one year. Monthly meetings will be held to seek public These Louisiana Walmart stores will get new looks
