Play ball! This is opening weekend for Ottawa's public baseball diamonds

Outdoorsy Ottawans looking to hit a home run are now able to play ball. Article content Article content Public baseball diamonds across the city will start opening this weekend, says the City of Ottawa. Article content The opening can be attributed to the cooperative weather this spring. Maintenance crews 'are working hard to ensure that the fields are ready for use,' said a release from the city. Article content Sixteen ball diamonds are currently open, according to the city's website. The remaining ball diamonds are on track to open May 6. The city says status updates for ball diamonds will be posted on Article content Article content 'Conditions are being assessed daily, and staff will provide updates to permit holders as the remaining ball diamonds are opened,' said the city.
