Play ball! This is opening weekend for Ottawa's public baseball diamonds

Public baseball diamonds across the city will start opening this weekend, says the City of Ottawa.

The opening can be attributed to the cooperative weather this spring. Maintenance crews 'are working hard to ensure that the fields are ready for use,' said a release from the city.

Sixteen ball diamonds are currently open, according to the city's website. The remaining ball diamonds are on track to open May 6. The city says status updates for ball diamonds will be posted on

'Conditions are being assessed daily, and staff will provide updates to permit holders as the remaining ball diamonds are opened,' said the city.
