Wisconsin in contention with notable blue bloods for class of 2026 offensive lineman

Wisconsin in contention with notable blue bloods for class of 2026 offensive lineman Wisconsin football made the top 10 schools for class of 2026 interior offensive lineman Jax Tanner on Wednesday. Tanner, who received his offer from UW on January 3, included the Badgers alongside Penn State, Oregon, Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, North Carolina, Boise State, BYU and South Florida. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound interior offensive lineman received nearly 30 offers from some of the most prestigious programs in the nation before whittling his final list down to 10. The three-star recruit is 247Sports' No. 503 overall recruit in the class, No. 46 interior offensive lineman and No. 2 prospect from his home state of Idaho. Tanner is considered a three-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals. During his junior season at Rocky Mountain High School, the lineman allowed zero sacks while captaining the team to the Class 6A semifinals. In recognition of his performance, Tanner pocketed the 2024-25 Gatorade Idaho Football Player of the Year award. As of April 17, Tanner has scheduled one official visit: to Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has yet to lock in a date to visit the Badgers. 247Sports and Rivals have yet to release forecasts for where Tanner will land. On3's recruiting prediction machine, meanwhile, considers the Oregon Ducks the heavy favorite with an 85.2% likelihood to secure a commitment. Wisconsin boasts less than a one percent chance in On3's forecast. UW's class of 2026 now features five commitments: three-star interior offensive lineman Benjamin Novak, three-star quarterback Ryan Hopkins, three-star defensive lineman Carmelow Anthony, three-star wide receiver Tayshon Bardo and three-star cornerback Carsen Eloms. Reed, Eloms and Hopkins have all offered their commitments since April 7. Wisconsin's 2026 group boasts the No. 40 overall ranking at this stage of the cycle. That number would certainly rise with Tanner's potential addition. Given Wisconsin's prestige in developing NFL players at the position, the program should remain in the mix.
