Man charged with murder of Jason Doig found not guilty due to mental incompetence
A man accused of the shooting murder of police officer Jason Doig has been found mentally incompetent by the South Australian Supreme Court.
A lawyer for Jaydn Stimson told the court his client admitted the objective elements of Brevet Sergeant Doig's murder, and the attempted murder of Sergeant Michael Hutchins.
Both officers were shot during an incident at Senior, north of Bordertown, in November 2023, with Sergent Hutchins suffering non-life threatening injuries.
Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig was shot dead in Bordertown in the state's south-east in November 2023.

The Supreme Court today ruled Mr Stimson was mentally incompetent at the time on the basis "his thinking and judgement were profoundly affected by psychosis".
The matter will return to court in July, when victim impact statements from police and the Lucindale community, are expected to be presented to the court.
