Man chases woman driving with 5-yr-old daughter in A'bad, damages her car
Ahmedabad: A 37-year-old woman from Navrangpura was allegedly chased and harassed by a scooterist who went on to damage her car's windshield near the Sabarmati Chimanbhai Patel Bridge late on Monday night.
Her five-year-old daughter was also in the car at the time.
The woman filed a complaint with Ranip police on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of the man who was identified as Jayesh Sadhnani, 23, a resident of Kubernagar.
According to the FIR, around 10.30pm on Monday, the woman was returning home from Vaishnodevi Circle with her daughter. As she reached Chimanbhai Patel Bridge, she saw Sadhnani on an electric two-wheeler chasing her and making obscene gestures, the FIR states.
As she felt unsafe, she kept driving while Sadhnani continued to chase her. When she neared the RTO Circle, he suddenly overtook her and blocked her car.
As she braked the vehicle, Sadhnani approached the driver's side of the car, banged on the window and tried to force the door open. The woman and her five-year-old daughter panicked and did not unlock the doors. In response, he allegedly punched the car's front windshield and shattered it.
Passersby who witnessed the incident rushed to help the woman, caught Sadhnani, and called up police and Abhayam women's helpline. A team of Ranip cops took Sadhnani into custody.
The woman said in the FIR that she estimated the damage to her car to be around Rs 35,000. Ranip police booked Sadhnani under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for mischief causing damage and attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman.
