25-year-old admits to sextortion of 14-year-old
SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — There are new developments in a sextortion case involving a man living in an South Dakota State dorm room in Brookings.
Jaykob Varner, 25, signed federal court documents admitting to using Snapchat to harass and intimidate an unnamed girl into sending him nude photos last year.
He says he then threatened to 'expose' her to her classmates and leak the photos to everyone she knew.
The statement of factual basis says Varner made those threats so she would do what he told her to do and send him nude photos.
Previous court documents identified the victim on Snapchat as a 14-year old girl in Louisiana. According to Varner's federal plea deal, he will admit to possessing child porn and could face anywhere from 15-years behind bars to life in prison.
A change of plea hearing has not been scheduled.
