37 joyous photos of Brazilian carnival procession in Stroud
A BRAZILIAN inspired carnival group led a colourful procession through Stroud on Saturday.
Afon Sistema led a vibrant procession across the town centre, featuring harmonies and dancers in colourful skirts for the annual Jazz Stroud Festival.
The group is known for playing maracatu, samba's earthier cousin, with a unique Bristol twist.
The event also celebrated Stroud Valleys Artspace's official acquisition of the historic Brunel Goods Shed.
In preparation for the event, SVA worked with artists and with costume-making workshops and dance classes held at the Long Table and Lansdown Hall.
Speaking after the event, a spokesperson from Afon Sistema said on social media: 'Thank you so much Jazz Stroud for having us!
'For the third year in a row, we brought some colour, energy, and maracatu vibes in Stroud.
'Already looking forward to the next.'
