JEANERETTE, La. (KLFY) — Several suspects wanted in connection with a shooting in the 600 block of Canal St. and in Baldwin that occurred yesterday evening, Jenerette Police Department said. Police are on the search for several suspects including Javon Robertson,22, Miguel Martinez,17, Jaylon Charles,19 and 16 year old male juvenile, officials said. Javon Robertson, 22 is wanted for the one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and one count of terrorizing, police said. Miguel Martinez,17 is wanted for one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, two counts of aggravated criminal damage to property, two counts of attempted second degree murder and one count of terrorizing. Police said around 3 p.m. yesterday evening, they received calls multiple shots fired in the 600 block of Canal Street. Upon arrival, officers said they allegedly pursued suspects who were fleeing the area on foot within the surrounding neighborhood. According to officers, they discovered a male victim who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. During the investigation, officials said they received information that five suspects were involved in the incident. Around two hours later, the police were notified of another call of shots fired in the area of Wilson and Cypermort Streets. Through investigation, the alleged shooter in the incident was Robertson. The Jeanerette Police Department learned shortly afterward that the Baldwin Police Department was engaged in a pursuit with a vehicle, which the suspects fled on foot. One of the occupants was identified as Mr. Robertson, the main suspect in the second shooting incident, police said. The investigation remains ongoing, as several more arrests are expected. JEANERETTE, La. () — Three people have been arrested in what authorities are calling an arson in Jeanerette overnight. Jeanerette Fire Department and the Jeanerette Police Department said they are working an arson investigation in the Church and Pellerin area. Authorities ask motorists to stay clear of the area as first responders work. Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office investigators are en route to the location. Three suspects are in custody, officials said. No other information has yet been released. JEANERETTE, La. (KLFY) — Last night, escaped inmate, Jaqualin Lewis, was captured after being on the run since October 2024, Jeanerette Police Department said. Lewis has been booked and charged on two counts of attempted first degree murder, aggravated flight from an officer, two counts of attempted second degree murder, one count of illegal carrying of a firearm in a school zone and simple escape, police said. In October 2024, Lewis escaped the Jeanerette City Jail and was allegedly seen wearing dark clothing, police reported. Subscribe Now According to authorities, they said Lewis was driving a vehicle stolen from Lafayette. After being recognized by authorities, Lewis began the high-speed chase, passing through the city of Jeanerette, outside its limits, and into New Iberia. Officials said several law enforcement agencies, including the US Marshals Service, Lafayette Police Department, and New Iberia Police Department, assisted in his capture. No information of details about the capture and Lewis's bond has been released. ROBERT, La. (WGNO) — Five people have been booked following the investigation of a shooting that occurred in Robert on March 25. According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened in the Gemstone Place subdivision off of Highway 445 when a silver sedan pulled up around 12:30 a.m. and more than 20 rounds were reportedly fired from it, hitting an occupied home and a vehicle. The Jeanerette Police Department later found the vehicle with shell casings inside matching the ones from the Robert incident. Investigation underway after fatal shooting in Kentwood Investigators say further investigation showed the shooting was allegedly due to 21-year-old Larry Turner Jr., who was incarcerated at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, giving a directive to his brother, 19-year-old Jaylon Turner, as well as 19-year-old Clydarious McGee and 18-year-old Donovan Perkins. Jaylon Turner was arrested in Jeanerette. Perkins was arrested with his girlfriend, 18-year-old Brianna Hudson, charged with obstruction of justice. McGee was arrested during a traffic stop in Hammond, and Larry Turner Jr. was rebooked in connection with the shooting. Jaylon Turner, Perkins and McGee were each charged with one count each of aggravated assault drive-by shooting, aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal discharge of a firearm.
