This Bollywood actress outshone the best actresses with her screen presence. The actress which we are talking about is Vijayta Pandit who made her film debut in 1981 with 'Love Story' opposite Kumar Gaurav. The film turned out to be a huge hit, thanks to this beautiful and charming new pair. Vijayta's charm and screen presence won hearts instantly and she was soon seen as the next big star of Bollywood. After 'Love Story', Vijayta's popularity skyrocketed for a short time. She was compared to actresses like Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit and was even considered better than them, who were building their careers at that time. Her face was everywhere, be it in magazines, film posters, or fan clubs. At the peak of her career, Vijayta fell in love with her co-star Kumar Gaurav. She began focusing on her relationship and turned down several film offers. This decision, though personal, deeply affected her professional graph. When the relationship finally ended, she found herself away from the industry limelight. Vijayta tried to make a comeback in the mid-1980s with a few films like 'Mohabbat' and 'Jeete Hain Shaan Se', but could not recreate the magic of her debut film. Bollywood had moved on, and new faces had taken over the space she once dominated. Though Vijayta Pandit's time in the spotlight was short-lived, she remains an unforgettable name in Bollywood history. Her story shows how quickly fame can rise and fall, especially in an industry where timing is everything. Today, she is remembered as the girl who once won the hearts of the entire nation, albeit for a short time.

Meet actress who became star with her debut film, fell madly in love with her co-actor, his father ruined her career, got married twice, today she is…

Bollywood is not just about the stories on screen, there is a lot that goes behind it too. Careers are made and ruined with one film, one role or one dialogue as well. There are several artists who rise to glory but eventually fade away. Relationships, affairs, marriages, or break-ups, these are some complexities that weave the life the of actors, somehow. One actress fell in love with her first co-actor but their relationship was not approved by the actor's father. This affected her career and despite being a household name, she only has a few number of films to her name. The actress in focus is Vijayta Pandit. Vijayta Pandit shot to fame with just one film and that too her screen debut in 1981. She was cast as the lead actress in 'Love Story' opposite to Kumar Gaurav. The Rajendra Kumar directorial became a blockbuster hit and made Pandit and overnight sensation. Rumours were rife about alleged relationship between the two actors. But Kumar Gaurav's father did not approve it and used to tell his son that 'he will bring a princess' for him, once Pandit revealed. In an interview with Lehren Retro, Pandit addressed the rumour and said, 'Bunty (Kumar Gaurav) was the first boy I hugged during the shoot for Love Story. Any love stories you look at, be it Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia's Bobby, Sunny Deol-Amrita Singh's Betaab, Sanjay Dutt and Tina Munim's Rocky, all these actors fell in love in real life. With such films you have to get into it, feel the romance… that was the first time a boy was touching me, so we both fell in love… Bunty was very fond of me; he would keep following me, holding my hands and dancing… he used to be a very charming boy. But his father and the film's producer Rajendra Kumar was very angry over our relationship. He would drink alcohol and tell Bunty, he was his prince, and that he should marry a princess. He said he will find his son a girl who belongs to a reputed family. When I used to hear all this, I used to be so scared, but Bunty would retaliate and tell his father that he loves me; they used to drink together and argue; I used to try and get away from this situation.' Reportedly, the relationship culminated over the intensifying tensions between families and affected her career negatively. Eventually, this entailed a gap in career but she returned to the screen after some time. Some of her notable works include Jeete Hain Shaan Se (1986), Deewana Tere Naam Ka (1987), Zalzala (1988), Pyar Ka Toofan (1990). She also starred in the blockbuster Bengali film Amar Sangi .
