Celebrate spring at Frühlingfest: Swiss-German fest in Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — To most people, the first sign of spring is the song of the robin or the tulips blooming, but to a select few, it's Frühlingfest, the Swiss-German Springfest, on April 6th at Avanti's Event Center, 3401 Griffin Dr, Pekin. You won't need German as a second language as long as you know the basics. 'Schnitzel, bratwurst, German potato salad, pretzels, and sauerkraut' will all help you navigate the menu. The entertainment is live music by both Eddie Korosa Jr and the Lindenhoff Echoes Alphorns. The festivities also include the German Car & Motorcycle, Cruis'n starting at 12pm, for those that wish to display their German cars and motorcycles. Jeff Pulfer, of the Peoria Area German Society says the event will have 'Great German food and great German atmosphere,' plus, admission is free. Frühlingfest is a complete day of family food drink and song, April 6th, beginning at 12pm, at Avanti's Event Center, 3401 Griffin Dr, Pekin. To learn more, click here.
