Shreveport's Centenary College celebrates annual Founders' Day

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Centenary College of Louisiana will be celebrating and gathering to observe its annual Founders' Day. Shreveport's Centenary College of Louisiana turns 200 Centenary College's annual Founders' will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. in the Brown Chapel, it is free and open to the public. The 2025 Founders' Day speakers this year include Edward J. Crawford III, a member of the College's Board of Trustees since 1991; Dr. Jefferson Hendricks '75, a Centenary alumnus and faculty member for over 40 years; Cheredith Rhone '17, Centenary alumna; and Tuyen Chau '25, a current student. President Dr. Christopher Holoman will announce and deliver service pins for faculty and staff along with several special annual awards, the President's Excellence Award and the Outstanding Teacher Award. Faculty and staff receiving service pins include: 35 Years Dr. Scott Vetter, Professor of Geology 30 Years Arthur Henderson, National Dr. Tom Ticich, Professor of Chemistry 25 Years Dr. Maureen Murov, Associate Professor of Spanish 20 Years Mike Diaz, Head Baseball Coach D'An Gates, Sodexo Eddie Walker, Director of Public Safety 15 Years Emlyn Aubrey, Men's & Women's Head Golf Coach Alan Berry, Theater Technical Director Dr. Chad Fulwider, Professor of History 10 Years Dr. Jessica Alexander, Associate Professor of Psychology Bob Blue, VP for Finance and Administration & CFO Ashley Brown, Director of Admission – Operations Charles Regauer, Suzuki School Administrator and String Teacher Dr. Jarret Richardson, Associate Professor of Neuroscience Logan Sledge, Associate Professor of Theatre John Taylor, Sodexo Dr. Kathrine Weeks, Associate Professor of Chemistry The college was founded in 1825, making Centenary the oldest higher education institution in Louisiana and the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River.
