Alabama lands two-way softball transfer from Big 12 program

Only days after adding Iowa transfer Jena Young, the Alabama Crimson Tide have landed yet another player through the portal in former Houston Cougars two-way player Brooke Wells. Wells announced her commitment to the Crimson Tide via a post on social media Saturday afternoon. At Houston, Wells saw time as both a pitched and infielder during the 2025 season as a freshman, a majority coming as the latter. Across 47 games, Wells slashed .341/.478/.645 for Houston with 10 home runs and 47 RBI offensively. As a pitcher, Wells made nine appearances for Houston in which she owned a 1-1 record with a 4.91 ERA and 9:13 K:BB ratio across 15.2 innings pitched. Wells also had one save, and held opponents to a combined .203 AVG against. The Houston transfer is Alabama's second portal addition so far this offseason, joined by the aforementioned Young. Alabama lands top softball transfer from Big Ten program

Alabama lands top softball transfer from Big Ten program According to an announcement earlier this past week on social media, the Alabama Crimson Tide have landed a commitment from Iowa Hawkeyes softball transfer Jena Young. Young is the first transfer portal addition for the Crimson Tide so far this offseason. A rising junior infielder, Young appeared in 59 games for the Hawkeyes this past season in which she was one of Iowa's top hitters, slashing .359/.477/.545 with three home runs, 27 RBI, and seven stolen bases. This was only a year after Young appeared in 46 games for the Hawkeyes as a freshman where he owned a .373 AVG with four home runs, 18 RBI, and six stolen bases. Owning a career .366 AVG, Young was also a First Team All-Big Ten selection in both seasons, and is likely to make a significant impact for the Crimson Tide in 2026.
