Spencer no-kill animal shelter raising money for renovations

SPENCER, Iowa (KCAU) — A Spencer-based no-kill animal shelter has launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for renovations. People for Pets, a non-profit no-kill animal shelter, is currently aiming to raise $500,000 that would go toward renovating and expanding their facilities, a release from People for Pets stated. Their current facility was bought in 2001, and the shelter has grown a lot since then, the release states, so due to the passing of time and need for more space, the rescue is hoping to make repairs and expand. Age has caused floors to crack, kennel areas to grow worn out, and an increased demand for more drains and plumbing. These wear has caused it to become difficult to maintain high standards of care and sanitation for the animals they are caring for. 'This campaign isn't just about repairs, it's about a future that matches the love and care we give every day,' People for Pets director Jenna Schroer said. 'We've outgrown quick fixes. It's time for meaningful, lasting changes that reflect our mission.' Sioux City Bandits team up with LifeServe Blood Center for donation drive In addition to acting as an animal shelter, People for Pets also contributes to local Trap-Neuter-Return programs. They also contribute to the Kayleen Rose Fund which helps families who need emergency veterinary care. People for Pets provided a list of things the $500,000 would help them provide if their goal is met. You can view the list below.
