[UPDATED] Four siblings among 5 killed in Jerantut crash
JERANTUT: Five people, including four siblings, were killed in a two-vehicle crash at Km7 of Jalan Jerantut-Maran here today.
The victims were identified as Perodua Bezza driver Mohamad Ikmal Ishak, 26, and siblings Nur Arfiqah Aziz Jaafar, 23; Mohammad Zulkifli Aziz Jaafar, 21; Mohamad Azizul Hakimi Aziz Jaafar, 19; and Nurul Hazwani Aziz Jaafar, 17.
Three others, including a 28-year-old woman travelling in a Toyota Alphard, escaped with minor injuries in the midnight crash.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Mohd Razam Taja Rahim said the Jerantut fire station was alerted to the accident at 12.39am before firemen reached the scene less than five minutes later.
"The accident involved eight victims travelling in two vehicles. Three victims travelling in the Bezza were thrown out of their vehicle, while two others were trapped inside the car.
"Firemen used rescue tools to bring out the remains of the two Bezza victims before handing over the remains to the police. The three injured victims travelling in the Alphard were sent to Jerantut Hospital in a Civil Defence Force ambulance," he said.
Razam said initial investigations revealed that the Bezza was travelling from Bota, Perak to Jerantut while the Alphard was heading from Pulau Tawar here to Jerantut.
