Jeremy Fortune announces campaign for Posey County Sheriff
HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Posey County Chief Deputy Jeremy Fortune announced he will be running for Sheriff in the Republican Primary in May of 2026.
Fortune is a graduate of North Posey High School and an alumnus of Vincennes University, where he received an associate's degree in law enforcement in 1996. In 2019, he was appointed chief deputy sheriff by Sheriff Tom Latham. He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Class 99-137.
'I very much look forward to continuing my career by serving Posey County as its next sheriff,' Fortune wrote in his announcement. 'I also look to build from what I have learned from serving under five sheriff's and using that knowledge to continue to provide quality leadership and professional services to Posey County.'
In a release, Fortune highlighted his career serving the citizens of Posey County for 29 years as a jail officer, reserve deputy, road patrol deputy, criminal detective, narcotics detective and as chief deputy sheriff. He said he believes his experience learning operating procedures and budgeting for the Posey County Jail and law enforcement entities makes him the best choice to be the next sheriff of Posey County.
