Cooper Flagg's Teammate Predicted to Join Eastern Conference Team

Cooper Flagg's Teammate Predicted to Join Eastern Conference Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With the No. 8 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets will miss out on Cooper Flagg, pending any massive surprises. However, that doesn't mean they won't come away with a promising draft prospect. Advertisement There are plenty of promising players coming into this year's draft class. The Nets don't have the highest draft pick in 2025, but they still have a high pick in a highly regarded draft, with or without Flagg. With the Nets embracing the next chapter of the franchise, they'll have to choose carefully from the 2025 NBA Draft. ESPN's Jeremy Woo projected that the Nets could take Flagg's teammate. Woo explained Knueppel's appeal as a player and how he compares to the other players in his draft class. Advertisement "While not possessing great length, he has the size to get his shot off as well as see over defenses when needed to make plays with the ball," Woo wrote. "Although he's not likely to be a stellar defender at the NBA level, Knueppel is viewed as one of the safer picks in this draft, as there's perennial demand for elite shooting, with the playmaking instincts he has shown adding a layer of upside if a team wants to further utilize him in that way." Like Flagg, Knueppel only played one year at Duke University. In his lone season with the Blue Devils, he averaged 14.4 points, four rebounds, and 2.7 assists while shooting nearly 48% from the field and 40.6% from three. Nets second in ESPN's NBA Draft asset rankings heading into 2025 Draft

The Brooklyn Nets are in the midst of an offseason in which they could make a lot of decisions that will affect the franchise for the next few years. The biggest way that Brooklyn can change its team is through the NBA Draft and with the 2025 Draft happening in June, it's time to see how the Nets stack against other teams in terms of equity in the Draft. In a ranking of all 30 NBA teams when it comes to Draft assets, ESPN's Bobby Marks and Jeremy Woo ranked Brooklyn second on the list. The Nets trail the Oklahoma City Thunder for the first spot on the list which is impressive considering that Brooklyn is relying on the Draft in some part when it comes to finding its next impact player to potentially build around. Advertisement "The rebuilding Nets head into predraft season holding a league-high five selections in the top 40," Woo wrote when giving his summary on why the Nets rank second. "They also have the most salary cap space, creating an opportunity to remake their roster. Logically, it's hard to see them rostering five rookies, and they can also open up additional cap room by consolidating some of their first-round selections." Heading into the 2025 NBA Draft, the Nets have four first-round picks: No. 6 (own), No. 19 (via Milwaukee Bucks), No. 26 (via New York Knicks), and No. 27 (via Houston Rockets). While three of Brooklyn's first-round picks would add players that may not have the ceiling of some of the best players in the Draft, their own first-round pick could be someone like Duke forward Cooper Flagg, who has a great amount of hype during the Draft process. More to the point, the Nets have 12 incoming first-round picks with the ability to trade nine of those picks if they wanted to make a splash this offseason, such as trading for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, for example. For a Nets organization that is just beginning the rebuilding process for the second time under general manager Sean Marks, the team is in a great position to add young talent. New NBA rumor opens door for Houston Rockets or Orlando Magic to land star they need in summer trade

The Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic could use a game-changer talent at the point guard spot, and a new rumor about one of the league's best has opened the door to a potential blockbuster trade this summer. The Rockets and Magic are two of the best defensive teams in the NBA. They also both have a pair of talented youngsters who can be All-Stars any year. But they also have a similar problem. They both have the potential to be perennial playoff teams, but lack the offensive thump to go far in the tournament. That was evident last month as both were ousted in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs. Advertisement Well, an opportunity to get the impact point guard the pair of teams would love to have may come this summer, according to ESPN NBA insider Jeremy Woo. Also Read: NBA games today – Get a look at the upcoming NBA playoffs schedule 'On paper, VJ Edgecombe is a natural fit, sliding between LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, with his downhill explosiveness, slashing style, and significant defensive potential complementing Ball's vision and creativity and Miller's shotmaking prowess,' Woo wrote in a new mock draft. 'He also offers room to grow into a larger ball-handling role. Which could make him more attractive to Charlotte, providing a long-term option in the backcourt. 'The Hornets took a patient approach at the trade deadline. And opposing teams are curious about their level of urgency this offseason, having sold at the trade deadline but also having missed the playoffs nine straight seasons.' Should the Houston Rockets or Orlando Magic inquire about LaMelo Ball's availability? Credit: Sam Sharpe-Imagn Images While drafting Edgecombe with the fourth overall pick in next month's NBA Draft makes sense for Charlotte. That point of having long-term potential as the main ball handler is interesting. Especially since there have been rumblings over the last couple of months that the Hornets might ponder trading young star LaMelo Ball. Advertisement Despite Ball having a good season — when healthy — Charlotte again had one of the worst records in the league. Although this group is still young and has potential, there is enough evidence that they aren't a good mix. And it should be broken up. Due to Ball's injury history, moving on from the $168 million he is still owed should be considered by the Hornets if they can get a good return. When on the floor, Ball is a special talent. This season, he averaged 25 points and over seven assists per game. He is the type of scoring threat and creator that the Houston Rockets could have used this spring. No disrespect to Fred VanVleet, who is well-liked. But Ball could be the final piece of an impressive young core for Houston with Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green. Furthermore, they have the assets to get a deal done and could free up a huge amount of cap space by not picking up VanVleet's option for next season. The Orlando Magic badly need a major impact player out of the backcourt. They have used first-round picks in recent years to find their point guard of the future to no avail. Ball would be a great addition as a pure scorer and would take some of the responsibility off Paolo Banchero. But he could also help in making life easier when it comes to getting shots for both Banchero and Franz Wagner.
