Jermaine Jenas axed from ITV show after BBC sacking and sexting scandal
Jermaine Jenas has been largely absent from media work since being sacked by the BBC last summer and he will not be involved in Soccer Aid coverage for ITV this weekend Jermaine Jenas will not be part of the ITV team covering Soccer Aid this weekend amid the continued fallout from being sacked by the BBC over allegations of workplace misconduct. The former England international was axed in August over claims he had sent inappropriate texts to female colleagues. Jenas was removed from his role as a presenter of The One Show and a pundit for BBC Sport after an internal investigation was launched. Jenas saw his contract terminated by the broadcaster and ultimately also parted ways with his long-term agents MC Saatchi in addition to being let go from his role presenting Formula E. Previous years have seen Jenas work alongside Maya Jama as part of coverage for the charity match Soccer Aid, with the likes of Dermot O'Leary and Alex Scott taking on presenting duties. The latter pair are set to host once again as England taking on a Rest of the World side with Wayne Rooney and Tyson Fury co-managing the Three Lions at Old Trafford on Sunday. According to Mail Online, Jenas was not considered by ITV to be part of the production. The channel did not want to bring unwanted attention to an event centred around charity, given Jenas' recent controversies. It is claimed that ITV still have a good relationship with the former Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder. Jenas has returned to working in the sphere of football in the aftermath of his sacking by BBC, however. After stepping back from his role as a presenter on talkSPORT, the 42-year-old appeared as a guest and returned to action as a commentator in February. Upon his return, Jenas told the station: "The biggest thing in this whole situation is about taking responsibility and that has been at the forefront of my mind… There's a reason why you're in this position and there's a reason why this has happened. "Once you accept those things, then you can work on yourself and you can work on the other things and you can work on your family and work towards a brighter future. Essentially this is about me looking inwards, making some improvements and coming back a better person.' In March, Ellie Penfold announced her split from Jenas. The pair share four children and Penfold took so social media to confirm the end of her 16-year relationship. "I never imagined I would have to share something so personal with the public, but given the situation, I feel it's necessary," she 16 years together and 4 wonderful children, Jermaine and I have decided to part ways. "We will remain friends and continue to co-parent. We kindly ask that you respect our children's privacy during this challenging time. Thank you, Ellie." Shamed football pundit Jermaine Jenas is axed from this year's Soccer Aid ITV coverage after sexting scandal
ITV have axed Jermaine Jenas from this year's Soccer Aid coverage in the wake of the ex-England midfielder's sexting scandal. Insiders have told MailOnline Jenas 'was not considered' to feature as part of the punditry team for this Sunday's televised charity match, despite being a regular in recent years. ITV bosses took the decision after Jenas, 42, was fired for sending inappropriate messages to female employees during his time at the BBC. The sexting scandal also cost Jenas his 13-year marriage after his wife Ellie, the mother of three of his four children, announced the pair were divorcing earlier in March. The insider said: 'ITV thought long and hard about the decision but believe it's the right move. 'Given Soccer Aid has such a charity angle they felt uneasy about bringing unwanted attention onto the match by including Jenas in the coverage so soon after his controversies. 'They still maintain a good relationship with him but they're looking to refresh the pundits this year with a mixture of new and returning faces across celebrities, footballers and pundits.' In previous years, Jenas has worked alongside Love Island Maya Jama as part of the match coverage, with Dermot O'Leary and Alex Scott taking on hosting duties. Jenas, 42, was fired for sending inappropriate messages to female employees during his time at the BBC ITV has now followed the BBC and Jenas 'was not considered' to feature as part of the punditry team for this Sunday's televised charity match The presenters have once again been confirmed for this year's match, between England and The Rest of the World, which will see Wayne Rooney and Tyson Fury co-managing the Three Lions at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium this Sunday. Former Manchester United and Denmark goalkeeper Peter Schmeical is managing the Rest of the World X1. Proceeds go towards UNICEF, which has already received £106million from Soccer Aid since it was created by Robbie Williams in 2006. Losing his regular Soccer Aid gig comes five months after Mailonline also revealed Jenas was axed as presenter of Formula E. He previously served as the lead presenter on TNT Sports. Jenas, who also has a daughter from a previous relationship, was sacked by the BBC in August, which resulted in him losing his hosting gig on The One Show and punditry work on both Match of the Day and 5 Live. The BBC confirmed their decision while he was on air guest hosting talkSPORT's drive time show. His agency MC Saatchi also cut ties with him before he brought in a crisis PR team to handle the aftermath of the scandal. Jenas revealed he lied to wife Ellie during a family holiday in order to sneak off and take a Zoom call with BBC bosses after news of his X-rated messages was first revealed within the broadcaster. And he also told how she had kicked him out of their £1million home in Hertfordshire after he admitted sending inappropriate messages to two female colleagues. Speaking to the Filthy Rellas podcast last month, Jenas claimed historical problems within the relationship also contributed to the break up. He said: 'The reality is, me and my wife haven't split up because I sent some text messages to some people at work. 'We had issues for a period of time, it all comes to a head and you eventually make a decision to say, as adults, we will be better parents for our children if we just remain friends and that's it. 'We had 16 amazing years together, me and my wife, how many people last that long? Sixteen years. Ups and downs. She caught the wrong end of my [playing] career, bless her.' During an interview with The Sun shortly after he was sacked by the BBC, Jenas admitted his wife was 'raging' over the incident. He said: 'We've not really spoken properly since. She's absolutely raging.' Jenas continued: 'It's just about the children right now. It's the school holidays and they're trapped in the house because photographers are outside my house. 'They're like, 'What's going on, Daddy?'. It's tough.' He added: 'I've got to take responsibility and I've apologised to all of them. 'I don't know what to say about that, to be honest with you. 'It's just hard at home for the kids right now. My wife's a real one 'My wife is solid and she's amazing. She is kind. She just needs some time.' During the interview, Jenas insisted Ellie should not fear more women coming out of the woodwork with tales of further inappropriate behaviour. However, weeks after the scandal broke, Mailonline revealed Jenas bombarded a woman working at the World Cup in Qatar two years ago with unwanted messages asking 'You want my boy now?' before sending her a picture of his manhood, despite her making clear she was not interested in his advances. The following week, we also told how he repeatedly pestered a junior make-up artist for sex - and when she told him she had a boyfriend replied: 'Just come to my dressing room early and I'll [perform a sex act] on u… that's not cheating.' That incident took place when he was working for BT Sport in 2017, where he was a rising star as a football pundit. Jenas has managed to find work with TalkSPORT, who triggered his media comeback in February as part of the station's FA Cup coverage. But his appointment reportedly sparked serious unrest at the station, as many staff members refused to work with him. MailOnline revealed other colleagues were left 'stunned' by his signing, but talkSPORT still pushed ahead with the move and even gave him a platform to once again express his sorrow for his past behaviour. He said: 'The biggest thing in this whole situation is about taking responsibility and that has been at the forefront of my mind. 'You need to take responsibility for your actions. There's a reason why you're in this position, and there's a reason why this has happened. 'Once you kind of accept those things, then you can work on yourself and you can work on the other things, and you can work on your family and work towards a brighter future. 'I'm very grateful to talkSPORT for giving me the opportunity to come talk to yourself and get back to doing what I love most. This is about me looking inwards, making some improvements and coming back a better person.' Meantime, Soccer Aid host O'Leary, 52, has revealed he still gets nervous about fronting the showpiece - as he treats the fixture like a 'proper football match'. Asked what he enjoys about Soccer Aid, he said: 'The half-time moments for me, because you have these special moments, it's a laugh and you're watching a game of football and you're seeing goals, and it's all very exciting. 'We treat it like a proper football match and then you get those moments, you know, there's a lot of levity in there, and then you get these proper stop and think moments, whether that's James Nesbitt or Robbie Williams doing something powerful for UNICEF. 'Being out here last year, I was more nervous about doing that than I was doing the first opening of the show. 'Yeah, but those are really very special moments.'

The night Mark Wright desperately tried to pull me while working at infamous TOWIE club where 1D star was booted out
IT was the legendary TOWIE haunt that hosted wannabe gangsters, X-rated fancy dress nights... and even superstars like One Direction, Pharrell Williams and Lindsay Lohan. Faces Nightclub, in Gants Hill, Essex, was 'a golden ticket' for TV show Z-listers, who were able to mingle with the unlikely mob of Hollywood actors and Premier League footballers who graced its halls. 15 And the boozy antics there were legendary, with scandal-hit TV host Jermaine Jenas pictured receiving a lapdance, Zayn Malik seen being escorted off the premises and WAG Danielle Lloyd hosting scores of lingerie-clad parties. Former owner Tony Bee boasted it was 'probably the most quoted club on TV and in the press' and for good reason, according to former Faces dancer Kayla Wild, 37. Reflecting on its wild heyday, she dubs it 'a knock-off Wolf of Wall Street' and "plastic gangsters' paradise", where drugs were rife and uninhibited TOWIE stars went wild. Among them, she claims, was Mark Wright, who desperately tried to woo her after she was dispatched to their table to perform and encourage them to down trays of black Sambuca shots. 'I was told to hype them up, basically be attractive and have a bit of flirty chat,' Kayla, now an OnlyFans model, tells The Sun. 'It's because that's how VIPs liked you to behave. You'd dance on the table so that the money flowed and the men were happy, drunk and whatnot. 'I remember Mark whispering into my ear, 'What are you doing after?' and said, 'Come back with me, there's a back door, they'll let you out there. Come back with me.' 'But a friend of mine was having a house party elsewhere that night, so I left out the front door instead and didn't go with him. 'The TOWIE lot were always there and you'd get looks off them, like 'I'm more special than anyone else'. 'They obviously viewed themselves as celebrities, whereas I was the dancer so was looked down upon, even though I knew Fern McCann, Sam and Billie Faiers, and others from the show. Georgia Steel snogs Sam Bird in Faces Nightclub 15 15 15 'I used to work with Fern as a waitress, she even came to one of my birthdays. But the TOWIE lot pretended they didn't know me." Kayla, who spent three years working there until 2013, was paid £150 a night as a dancer to entertain the VIPs, encourage them to get drunk and splash their cash. The TOWIE gang were regulars, with Gemma Collins admitting getting in was 'like having a golden ticket'. 'It was very much the scene to be in… it had a VIP guest list from the world of TV, fashion and sport,' she recalled in her autobiography. 'It was most talked about club outside of the West End… You literally could rub shoulders with Premier League footballers and many girls went just to try to snare themselves a rich player.' Club snaps show James Argent glugging from a giant bottle of Grey Goose vodka, Sam Faiers downing shots with then-boyfriend Mark Wright and Joey Essex regularly leaving with different women. Sophie Kasaei, Lauren Goodger and Billie Faiers often entered dolled up to the nines, only to emerge considerably less groomed in the early hours after one too many tipples. Footballers from across the spectrum showed up, including ex superstars like Teddy Sheringham, Jamie Redknapp and Sol Campbell. Regulars like WAG Danielle Lloyd threw birthday bashes, including one with a 'pimps and tarts' theme and for her 25th, donned raunchy Cinderella-inspired lingerie. X Factor party animal Frankie Cocozza partied there and schmoozer Calum Best was a regular. Even huge US celebs like Pharrell entered accompanied by an entourage and hellraiser Lindsay Lohan 'looked terrified', considering it 'a bit of a comedown from her usual glam nights', according to Kayla. 15 15 15 Darkest days These days, the nightclub appears to be rebuilding its reputation after a string of scandals, which eventually saw its celeb appeal fade away. The venue has faced multiple closures since its 1993 launch - including once due to a big drug raid - and eventually relaunched in 2021 after shutting sing down for a year. Recalling its infamous heyday, Kayla says: 'It had this dodgy air to it, like 'God this is risky'. Drugs were rife, there were fights and once I remember there was a stabbing. 'It had the rowdy essence that's sugarcoated in Essex glamour, while everyone's competing over who's got the most money and whose dad is the richest. 'They loved it. It was full of these rowdy fellas, all Essex city boys who were wannabe gangsters. That sort of vibe." This drunk girl grabbed my friend's hair, pulled her to the floor. I had to get security. It was quite scary, they had to drag the other girl out and ban her. Kayla Wild The darker side to Faces was well-known amongst its celebrity clientelle too. In 2003, ex- Chelsea defender Ashley Cole had his £25,000 Rolex and gold chain stolen while he sat drinking champagne with two girls. In 2007, Faces was forced to close for a month after a drugs raid saw 11 people arrested for possession of cocaine and ecstasy, which could be bought 'quite openly'. And a year later, a mass brawl broke out when Spurs man Ledley King tried to force his way into the club after being evicted for being too drunk after the club's Carling Cup win. In 2018, amid a rise in rowdy teens attending, horrifying footage emerged showing a thug punching a woman unconscious on the pavement outside the Essex hotspot. It would lead to the club being rebranded 'Faeces' by locals due to the squalor and regular scenes of violence. Kayla recalls that less glamorous side to the club, revealing their dressing rooms where they changed into saucy lingerie was 'a shabby kitchen where the washing-up boys worked'. 'I'd enter wearing UGG boots and joggers and leave in these skimpy outfits - leopard-print bikinis, everything was minuscule and booby with stockings and hold-ups and six-inch high heels,' she says. 15 15 15 Dancers like Kayla were the main entertainment, performing four 20-minute slots between 10pm and 2am. And most of the time, they were in the firing line. Kayla recalls: 'This drunk girl grabbed my friend's hair, pulled her to the floor. I had to get security. It was quite scary, they had to drag the other girl out and ban her.' 'Girls there had an issue because of how we looked and dressed, we'd get mugged off in the sense that they would mouth 'She's ugly' or pick at your appearance. 'There was a lot of jealousy because all the men's eyes, including their boyfriends', were always on us, not them. 'Then on the pole, you had people touching you, pulling at you, trying to come up on the poll. Lots of letchy men, but that was the norm. 'It was absolutely iconic and a definite era, but it was a paradox too. While there was extravagance, money and sexiness, it felt like it was a bit risky and you were quite vulnerable too.'

Disgraced One Show presenter Jermaine Jenas wanted to stay with wife and be 'unhappy'
Disgraced BBC presenter Jermaine Jenas has admitted that he wanted to stay with his ex-wife Ellie Penfold and "be unhappy for the rest of [his] life" before she ended their marriage earlier this year. The former Premier League midfielder, who presented The One Show and worked as a pundit on Match of The Day, had his contract terminated by the BBC in August last year, after it was revealed he had sent inappropriate texts to two female employees at the corporation. Jenas later apologised for his "wildly inappropriate" and "self-destructive" behaviour and admitted that his wife - whom he married in 2011 and with whom he shares two children - was "absolutely raging" after news of his sacking broke. READ MORE: Everyone's cup final, brutal football and why right manager is key – What Cardiff City can expect in League One READ MORE: Dad-of-four dies after hitting head and fracturing skull on friend's stag-do Having reportedly kicked the ex-Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur player out of their bedroom, Penfold announced in March that the couple had gone their separate ways after 16 years together. In a statement posted on social media, she wrote: "I never imagined I would have to share something so personal with the public, but given the situation, I feel it's necessary. "After 16 years together and 4 wonderful children, Jermaine and I have decided to part ways. We will remain friends and continue to co-parent. We kindly ask that you respect our children's privacy during this challenging time. Thank you, Ellie." Jenas - who had been tipped to succeed Gary Lineker as host of Match of the Day before the texting scandal emerged - has now broken his silence over his marriage ending, revealing that he had been "prepared to be unhappy" and stay with his wife but she had decided otherwise. "It was her decision and one that I had to accept," he told the Filthy Fellas podcast. "If it was up to me - and I think a lot of men are like this - I'd probably be prepared to be unhappy for the rest of my life if [it meant] I had my kids in it. "It's a man thing. If I wake up with my kids everyday, I'm quite happy to sacrifice the happiness. The reality is, we were both in a position where we like: 'Are we really happy?' "From her side of things, she's probably ran the course much more than me. But I was much more happy to go: 'I'll be unhappy if I can stay in this house with you and these kids'. But it wasn't to be for her and we went our separate ways. "She has understood the scenario that we've been in as a family. Kids first is our motto. We have to be the best parents we can possibly be. So I've been spending so much time at home." The former England international added that their marriage has become "more of a friendship" and came to an end for more reasons than just the texting scandal. "Not loads has changed really, it's just mine and her relationship has gone into more of a friendship than a relationship," he continued. "I do believe there is going to come a moment where I'm sat in my apartment one day and be like: 'This is mad. I had my whole family around me every single day. I'm not hearing that pitter patter of feet'. "That's going to be the tough side of it. But that's part of dealing with the situation. The reality is, me and my wife didn't split up because I sent some text messages to some people at work. We had issues for a period of time and it all comes to a head. "Eventually, you make a decision to say, as adults, we will be better parents for our children if we remain friends. We had 16 amazing years together. She's a great woman."
