The Wolverines hosted several top prospects, building upon the first weekend, but this time with a little more name power. Penn State loses wide receiver commitment in 2026

The past couple of seasons have seen Penn State recruit and develop some big-time players at a variety of positions, but one position that continues to lag behind the others has seemingly been wide receiver. Penn State's efforts in the Class of 2026 to find a wide receiver took a bit of a hit going into the weekend with the decommitment of three-star receiver Jerquaden Guilford. Guilford took to social media to announce he is backing out of his commitment to the Nittany Lions as he continues to receive offers from around the country, including some stiff Big Ten competition. Guilford committed to Penn State in December but said he feels he needs to take some more time to fully evaluate his college decision before making any final official decisions. "I want to take the time to thoroughly evaluate my options and ensure that the school I choose aligns with the values my family and I hold," Guilford said in a statement on his social media account. "With the new landscape of college recruiting, I want to make a decision that is as close to perfect as possible for my future." This does not necessarily mean Penn State is out of the running for Guilford's commitment down the line, but James Franklin and his staff will have to keep working to bring Guilford to Happy Valley if they still want him coming to the program. — Jerquaden'G2'Guilford (@QuayGuilford) February 28, 2025 Penn State still holds commitments from two other wide receivers in the Class of 2026. At the moment, Penn State has commitments from Jahsiear Rogers and Lavar Keys. Rogers, from Delaware, is a four-star recruit according to his 247Sports composite recruit ranking and Keys, from Maryland, is rated as a three-star player. Penn State currently sits with eight commitments in the Class of 2026. The Nittany Lions own the no. 5 recruiting class in the updated 247Sports composite team rankings.
