NDHS honors student killed in car accident
DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — North Daviess High School is mourning the loss of 17-year-old student John 'JD' Moore, who was killed in a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning. North Daviess Principal Jed Jerrel said Moore's passing was a tragic loss for the school and community. 'JD was a great student, academically and personally a really good kid to have in class,' said Jerrel. Jerrel also spoke about how Moore was an avid hunter and in honor of Moore's love for hunting, the student body and staff wore camouflage clothing on Monday. Jerrel said students and staff have already started working on projects to help support Moore's family by creating a plaque and bench to remember him. The school's student business, Cougar Creations, has also started designing t-shirts that will be sold to the community, and all proceeds will go Moore's family. North Daviess High School to participate in Indiana Food Day Some fundraising efforts have also started, Jerrel said one staff member has already collected $8,000 to help support the family. 'This community has shown so much support. They have come in and shown us support and prayers. It's just a really good community for families dealing with tragedy,' said Jerrel Monday, the school also had a full-time counselor and social worker on staff, along with four ministers, to help anyone in the student body who needed help coping with the loss of Moore.
