Shore towns in New Jersey selling beach tags for summer 2025. Here's how much they cost and where to get them
Before you tag yourself and your friends on your Instagram story with a picture from the beach, you might need a beach tag. Though Memorial Day Weekend is almost here, many shore towns in New Jersey are still offering early-bird prices on beach tags that are valid for the entire 2025 summer season. There are other options available, including monthly, weekly and daily passes. In some Jersey Shore locales, you can't get on the beach without one of these tags, also referred to as beach badges. In others, someone may come looking for it later and you'll want to be prepared. Some towns will require badges as soon as Memorial Day Weekend. If you're looking for a free beach, there are plenty of options up and down the coast like the Wildwoods, Highlands, Corson's Inlet State Park, Strathmere and Atlantic City. Here's a look at New Jersey's beach towns that will cost you and how to pay up. Where info was available, we've listed if the towns will require beach badges for Memorial Day Weekend. Order a seasonal New Jersey beach tag online Many Jersey Shore towns are partnering with Jersey Cape Tags to sell seasonal beach tags, valid through the summer. Here you can buy a seasonal tag with a credit or debit card and have the tag shipped to your home. You can check out or their Shopify store and see if your preferred beach destination is listed. My Beach Mobile app If you want to skip the mail and pay by check or cash, multiple towns are included on the My Beach Mobile app. You can download the app on your phone and purchase a variety of digital and physical beach badges there. Get it on the Apple App Store or Google Play. Avalon The time is ticking if you want a head-start on Avalon, New Jersey's pre-season beach tag price. Until May 31, 2025, a seasonal beach tag will cost you $35. On June 1, the price goes up to $40. A daily beach tag costs $8 and a weekly tag is $17. Avalon requires everyone 12 and older to have a beach tag. Avalon and Stone Harbor reciprocate beach tags; in other words, one town's beach tag is good in the other. You can buy tags of all varieties at the Beach Tag Booth next to Avalon Community Hall, and the Avalon Chamber of Commerce sells seasonal tags. Asbury Park Beach tags required for MDW? | Yes Seasonal: $70, $20 for seniors and kids 13-17. Free for kids 12 and under with adult supervision, active military and veterans. Which South Jersey Shore towns do you need beach tags in summer 2025? Here's the details
Before you know it, school will be out, the days will be longer and the sun will be shining — perfect conditions for a summer at the shore. But is your wallet ready for this season's beach tag rates? Here's how much you can expect to pay at South Jersey beaches. Beach tags are to be required for people 12 and older from June 7 through Sept. 1. Pre-seasonal beach tags are on sale for $30 at Ocean City's online store. According to the municipality, weekly tags ($20) and daily tags ($10) will be available to purchase during the season. At Sea Isle City, beach tags are required for those 12 and older, seven days a week from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. during the season, which runs Memorial Day to Labor Day. Seasonal beach tags are available for purchase at the pre-season rate of $25 in person. Tags can be purchased from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at the Sea Isle City Welcome Center or from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the tax office in City Hall. Tags can be purchased online from Jersey Cape Tags for $27.05 after convenience fees. Tags are to be shipped directly to the purchaser. All sales are final. Starting May 15, the pre-season rate expires and seasonal beach tags are to cost $30. Daily tags are to cost $10, weekly tags are to cost $15 and all Wednesdays in the season will be free except for July 4. Lambertville on the map: This town on the Delaware River near New Hope was named one of the best in the US by HGTV Beach tags are required for beachgoers 12 and older at Cape May. Tags are available for purchase at the pre-season rate of $30 until April 30. These tags can be purchased in person at the Cape May City Hall's tax office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or via mail order from City Hall. Seasonal tags can also be purchased from Jersey Cape Tags for $32.34 after additional fees. Free beach tags are available to active-duty military members and veterans from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and New Jersey National Guard. Active military may also receive tags for their spouse or civil partner and dependent children 12 and older. Military and veteran tags are to be picked up in person with proper identification. For more information visit Cape May's beach tag website. Beach tags are available to purchase in person or online for the pre-season rate of $40 until May 31 at Cape May Point. Daily tags are to be $10, weekly $25 and seasonal $50, and children younger than 12 enter for free. Regular season tags are to be available to purchase in person at the borough hall from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. from June 1 to Aug. 31, or at each entrance during the season from 10 a.m. to close, starting June 14. Seasonal tags may also be purchased from Jersey Cape Tags for $42.92 after additional fees. Free tags are available to active-duty military and their immediate families, as well as veterans with proof of identification. Tags can be picked up from the beach director or their designee at the borough hall. Beach tags are required for people 12 and older in Margate. Tags are available at the pre-season rate of $10 for normal tags, $3.50 for seniors 65 and older and $12 for holiday tags until May 31. Starting June 1, all beach tags are to be $20. Veterans and active military members may receive free seasonal tags, and spouses of active-duty military may receive one free seasonal tag as well. Tags can be purchased in person at the Martin Bloom Pavillion Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., online at Jersey Cape Tags for additional convenience fees or digitally through MyBeach Mobile App. Atlantic City and Wildwood remain free beaches for the 2025 season. This means no tag purchases are necessary for access to the beach.
