Occupation Forces Attack Historical Landmarks Adjacent to Al-Aqsa Mosque

Amir Hagag The Israeli occupation authorities attacked a historical landmark adjacent to the walls of Al-Aqsa Mosque, specifically the Shihabi family courtyard adjacent to Bab Al-Hadid. This courtyard is considered a historical landmark of architectural and religious significance in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Governorate condemned this attack in a statement issued Tuesday, stressing that the ongoing attempts to expand the entrance to the courtyard and transform it into a so-called "Jewish prayer place," with direct support from the occupation municipality, is a flagrant violation of international law and a new crime added to the occupation's dark record in the Holy City. The Governorate indicated that these attacks are part of a clear Judaization project targeting the Holy Basin and the Islamic Waqf buildings surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque, as part of the "Greater Jerusalem" settlement plan that the occupation government seeks to impose by force. It is a new blatant attack on the role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Hashemite Custodianship in Jerusalem, and an attempt to impose a new fait accompli in the Old City of Jerusalem. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers Lifestyle Pistachio and Raspberry Cheesecake Domes Recipe News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Bouchra Dahlab Crowned Miss Arab World 2025 .. Israeli settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem to mark Passover holiday

LONDON: Thousands of Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Compound in the Old City of East Jerusalem to mark the Jewish holiday of Passover on Thursday. The Jerusalem Governorate, a body affiliated with the Palestinian Authority, said that Israeli settlers entered the site through the Mughrabi Gate in groups and performed Jewish prayers at the site. Settlers also toured Bab Al-Rahma on the eastern wall of the compound, which was a site of conflict between Israeli police and Muslim worshippers in 2019. Passover is observed from April 12 to 20, when Jewish communities commemorate the Israelites' exodus from Egypt more than 3,000 years ago. Far-right Israeli lawmaker Zvi Sukkot, from the Religious Zionism Party, performed in Al-Aqsa the Talmudic ritual known as 'epic prostration,' in which the worshipper bows low to the ground in a display of humility and reverence. Thousands of Jewish worshippers performed the Priest's Blessing at the Western Wall, a plaza outside the western wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque, on the fifth day of Passover. Israeli forces implemented strict security measures, turning the Al-Aqsa area into a military zone and preventing Palestinians from entering, the Wafa news agency reported. On Tuesday, Israeli authorities closed the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, as part of security measures during Passover. The closure meant Palestinians were barred from accessing the site for two days as Israeli settlers celebrated Passover, Wafa added.

Jerusalem governorate condemns Knesset members' storming of Aqsa Mosque

The Jerusalem Governorate on Monday condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by several members of the 'Israeli' Knesset and a group of rabbis, calling it a dangerous provocation against Muslims and a blatant violation of international law and UN resolutions concerning Jerusalem and its Islamic holy sites. In an urgent statement, the Governorate warned against repeated Israeli Occupation attempts to impose temporal and spatial division at Aqsa Mosque, saying such actions directly target the sanctity of the mosque and escalate tensions in the occupied city. The statement also denounced the restrictions and closures imposed by Israeli Occupation Forces around Al-Aqsa Mosque, which aim to empty the compound of worshippers to facilitate settler incursions. The Governorate stressed that these measures reflect a systematic policy to alter the historic and legal status quo at the holy site. The Governorate called on the international community and human rights organizations to act swiftly and pressure Israeli Occupation to stop these violations, which undermine regional stability and infringe on Muslims' right to freely practice their religion at the third holiest site in Islam.
