Signs these unsigned Arizona Cardinals free agents won't return

The Arizona Cardinals have a full offseason roster and appear to be done with free agency. They still have a number of their own free agents who remain unsigned. While we detailed how one small detail shows that the door is still open for offensive lineman Will Hernandez to re-sign (they have not assigned his No. 76 to any other player), it would appear that the same detail suggests that some key free agents will not be returning. Advertisement Those players are linebackers Kyzir White, Jesse Luketa and Dennis Gardeck. White and Gardeck, both of whom have been team captains, were starters. However, White's No. 7 jersey has been assigned to backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett, while Gardeck's No. 45 was given to undrafted rookie tight end Oscar Cardenas. Gardeck is rehabbing a torn ACL. Luketa finished the season with a calf injury on injured reserve. While he was a solid special teams player and developed as a defensive player, he was not tendered as a restricted free agent and has not been signed by anyone. His No. 43 was given to free agent linebacker Mykal Walker. Advertisement Who is the one Cardinals free agent outside of Hernandez whose uniform is still available? Linebacker Krys Barnes, who wore No. 51. That uniform is still available, although his return seems unlikely with the addition of Walker and Akeem Davis-Gaither in free agency and Cody Simon in the draft. 2025 Arizona Cardinals offseason roster profile: OLB Jesse Luketa

2025 Arizona Cardinals offseason roster profile: OLB Jesse Luketa A look at OLB Jesse Luketa, what he did in 2024, his contract status and his outlook on the team for 2025. The Arizona Cardinals are in offseason mode and we are days away from free agency. leading up to the new league year, we will take a look at each player on the roster or signed to a reserve deal and break down where they stand with the team. We will look at their 2024 season, their contract status and what their status is for the coming offseason and 2025 season. Next up is OLB Jesse Luketa. 2024 Jesse Luketa stats, season After being inactive for the first four games of the season, Luketa began making an impact once he had the opportunity to be on the field. He played 10 games with two starts before missing the final three games of the season on injured reserve because of a thigh injury. In the 188 snaps he played (30 percent), Luketa had 18 tackles (10 solo/four for loss) while compiling 3.0 sacks for 19 yards, one pressure, four quarterback hits and one forced fumble. He also had two special-teams tackles (one solo) on 169 snaps (67 percent). 2025 contract status With three accrued seasons, Luketa is scheduled to be a restricted free agent on March 12, but it's unlikely the Cardinals would extend the minimum tender, which is projected to be north of $3 million. Outlook for 2025 The Cardinals love the way Luketa plays with energy and violence and it is believed they are hopeful of re-signing him to a contract worth less than the minimum RFA tender. His salary last season was $985,000 and the minimum salary for a player with three credited seasons is $1.1 million. Tenders revealed for 4 Arizona Cardinals restricted free agents

Tenders revealed for 4 Arizona Cardinals restricted free agents Taking a look at how much it would cost to use RFA tenders on the Cardinals' four restricted free agents. There are many levels of free agent decisions NFL teams have to make as the new league year approaches and one not at the top of the debate list involves restricted free agents. Those are players who have three accrued NFL seasons. Leaguewide numbers for tenders used on restricted free agents have drastically decreased over the last 10-15 years for two reasons: drafted players all receive four-year contracts and the dollar total for the required tenders has steadily increased. Last year, only seven RFAs were tendered. Another 42 players not tendered either re-signed or joined new teams for less than the tender amount. Tendered restricted free agents can negotiate with other teams and present an offer sheet to the original team. That club can match or let the player leave for pre-determined draft-choice compensation. If undrafted, the team retains right-of-first-refusal, but it could also receive compensation if the player is tendered at a higher dollar level. It's also possible a player originally selected in the third round or lower could require better compensation if tendered at the first- or second-round level. 2025 Tenders First-round tender: $7.46 million Second-round tender: $5.35 million Orginal-round tender: $3.41 million Right-of-first refusal tender: $3.26 million The Arizona Cardinals have four potential players in that category this year and none are expected to be tendered, although they could be re-signed. 2025 Cardinals restricted free agents LB Jesse Luketa WR Greg Dortch S Joey Blount S Andre Chachere A seventh-round choice of the Cardinals in 2022, Luketa's tender would be $3.41 million. Although his original contract was for four years, that deal was terminated when he was cut in the roster reduction to 53 and then subsequently re-signed to a new contract after being on the practice squad. Dortch, Bount and Chachere all were originally undrafted free agents and all would require $3.26 million tenders for the Cardinals to have matching rights.
