She bought a $2 California Lottery scratcher at a liquor store. Now she's ‘set for life'
Two Northern California residents are celebrating life-changing lottery wins, with one now receiving a steady monthly windfall and the other cashing out in a multimillion-dollar lump sum.
In March, Roseann Saporita of Santa Rosa won the final top prize in the $2 Set for Life Scratchers game, securing a payout of $4,000 per month for the next 25 years, the California Lottery announced this week.
The ticket, purchased at MD Liquor & Food on Mission Boulevard, netted her a total of $1.2 million over time.
According to the California Lottery, Saporita chose the annuity option, locking in the full monthly amount before taxes.
Meanwhile, in May, Sabina Gharahgozloo scored a huge win from a 200X Scratchers ticket bought at Jessica's Grocery Store in Watsonville. That ticket came with a $10 million top prize.
The state of California does not tax lottery winnings, adding to the windfall for both players.
According to the California Lottery, only two top prizes remain in the 200X Scratchers series.
The announcement comes as the lottery marks its 40th anniversary, with over $46 billion contributed to public schools since its founding.
