TOPEKA (KSNT) – A ribbon cutting is scheduled for a newly built Auburn-Washburn school. Auburn-Washburn will cut the ribbon for its new Washburn Rural North Middle School next week. New member drops Lynnwood City Council appointment after Onlyfans scandal
The Brief Jessica Roberts withdrew her appointment to the Lynnwood City Council due to controversy over explicit online content linked to her, which she said could distract from the council's progress. Roberts was unanimously appointed but faced scrutiny over her personal life, including an OnlyFans account and explicit Reddit posts, leading to her decision to step down before confirmation. LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Recent controversy surrounding "dark and bizarre" online activity has led to Jessica Roberts withdrawing her appointment to the Lynnwood City Council. On Thursday, Roberts formally withdrew her consideration to the vacant city council position. In a statement to FOX 13 Seattle, Roberts wrote: "My personal life and identity does not in any way affect my ability to do the job. However I have decided to withdraw my appointment not because I'm unwilling to serve the people of my community, but because the continued scrutiny of my personal life is a potential distraction from the council's forward progress." The backstory Roberts was appointed unanimously to the position, but was still awaiting a confirmation hearing from the rest of the council. FOX 13 Seattle last reported the council planned to convene Thursday to consider rescinding her appointment. The controversy stemmed from an Onlyfans account linked to her social media profiles, as well as explicit content posted to Reddit that was linked to her, as well. Sexually explicit content was publicly accessible on her Instagram profile, and council members took issue with the fetish content she wrote about on Reddit, which some described as "dark and bizarre." As far as her appointment, Roberts was among the final eight selected for interviews for the vacant . During her interview on Feb. 18, she focused on pedestrian-friendly initiatives, stating, "I think my voice would be useful, particularly in regards to walkability for pedestrians." The council has until April 5 to find a replacement, after which the decision falls to the Snohomish County Council. Jessica Roberts' OnlyFans content sparks Lynnwood City Council controversy
The Brief Jessica Roberts, recently appointed to the Lynnwood City Council, is under scrutiny for her past explicit online content. Her OnlyFans account and explicit Reddit posts have raised concerns among council members and the community. The Lynnwood City Council will meet Thursday to consider rescinding her appointment. LYNNWOOD, Wash. - The Lynnwood City Council is facing intense scrutiny after appointing a new councilmember, Jessica Roberts, whose past online activity has raised concerns. Roberts, who was unanimously selected for the position, had an OnlyFans account linked to her name, as well as explicit content posted on Reddit. As of Monday, both accounts were deactivated, but the discovery has ignited a heated debate over whether Roberts is fit to serve in public office. The backstory Roberts' explicit content was not hidden — it was publicly accessible through links on her Instagram profile, allowing visitors to access her adult content directly. Statements allegedly made by Roberts on Reddit — which have been described as dark and bizarre — have fueled concerns among council members. FOX 13 Seattle has chosen not to air or publish those comments due to their graphic nature. What Roberts Is Saying In response to the revelations, Roberts defended her qualifications and dismissed concerns that her past work would interfere with her duties. "While I appreciate and understand the concern regarding the revelations around my personal life, this would not impact my ability to do the job I was appointed to do or my ability to serve my fellow residents," Roberts said in a statement to FOX 13 Seattle. What they're saying Many residents and online commenters are now questioning how Roberts' background was not uncovered before her appointment. Nineteen candidates applied for the vacant council seat, and Roberts was among the final eight selected for interviews. During her interview on Feb. 18, she focused on pedestrian-friendly initiatives, stating, "I think my voice would be useful, particularly in regards to walkability for pedestrians." Council members did not discuss her OnlyFans account during deliberations, as it had not surfaced at the time. Timeline The Lynnwood City Council is set to meet Thursday night to determine whether Roberts should remain in her seat or if the appointment should be rescinded. If the council does not find a replacement by April 5, the decision will fall to the Snohomish County Council. This is a developing story; check back for updates. Businesses relying on Localtopia more than ever this year
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., (WFLA) – Local businesses need the community's help more than ever after people are still recovering from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Organizers for the 2025 Localtopia said this year is the one that is going to make or break businesses. Localtopia will be at Williams Park on Saturday, February 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is a celebration of all things local and this year, businesses are depending on the community. 'The cleanup is still happening, and for me, it meant losing my woodwork shop which held all of my boards, my tent, all the essentials to run this business, right before the holiday season was starting,' Jessica Roberts said. Jessica Roberts owns Afterburnt, a business made from creating artwork out of wood. She said a lot of her inspiration for her pieces, especially the cookware, comes from her grandparents. The business owner was only able to do one-weekend show before Hurricane Milton hit, but she did not just lose some of her livelihood, she lost her car and had to move out of her home. 'The overwhelm of the storm on top of running a business, and also, having a collective that I share with other artists. Physical overwhelm, emotional overwhelm that I am definitely still dealing with as I am temporarily housed in Tampa, running my business very makeshift-ly,' Roberts said. Her customizable woodwork is just one of hundreds of businesses participating. Olga Bof, the Founder and Executive Director of Keep St. Petersburg Local, said this is the most important Localtopia ever. 'It really just is heartbreaking what they've been going through and this is why this is our shirt this year, it's help local thrive in 2025. Not just the participants that day, but all of your favorites, save your favs this year,' Olga Bof said. The event is a day of communities coming together and a day that business owners depend on. 'Because of everything our local businesses have been through, obviously, with the hurricanes primarily, but that's just an accumulation of the past few years between the pandemic and price increases. This is literally the year that will make or break them,' Bof said. 'The day is just filled with so much love and especially, what we've all just went through, this is what I've been looking forward to,' Roberts said. 'This is what I have been putting aside all the stress and of the overwhelm, and I have been making, creating for my community, that's what has been holding up my spirits right now.' More than 300 local businesses will be taking part. For road closures and available parking, click here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
