Real Madrid First Team Star Says Farewell To Club

A now former Real Madrid first team star used social media to say farewell to the club and its fans after his departure was announced ahead of the weekend. On the same day it confirmed the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, Madrid released a communicado announcing a parting of ways between itself and Jesus Vallejo. 'Real Madrid CF announces that Jesús Vallejo has ended his time as a Real Madrid player. Vallejo has defended our shirt for five seasons. In this time, he has won two European Cups, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, 1 League, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups,' a statement began. 'With the Spanish national team, he was a silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and a European U-21 and U-19 champion. Real Madrid thanks Jesus Vallejo for his professionalism, his commitment and his work, and wishes him and his family the best in this new stage of his life,' it then concluded. Early on Saturday afternoon in Spain, Vallejo used his accounts on social media sites such as X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram to say goodbye to Los Blancos. 'Thank you very much to all the people who are part of Real Madrid for these seasons in which we have lived moments of all kinds. Both my family and I leave with the good feelings that we have lived, worked and enjoyed in this stage until the last day,' Vallejo first said. Vallejo said that 'undoubtedly' he will take with him many lessons learned on and off the pitch, while he is 'very proud to have worked daily to help the team and my teammates as much as possible at all times'. Lastly, Vallejo stated he is 'totally grateful also to all the Madrid fans who have been supporting me in every game, in every rally and at the start of every training in the Ciudad Deportiva' before signing off with a call of 'Hala Madrid!'. Already struggling for minutes, there was now even less room in Xabi Alonso's first XI for Vallejo thanks to the arrival of Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth. As an ex-Real Madrid star, however, the 28-year-old shouldn't be short of potential suitors around Spain and the rest of Europe.

Soccer-Real Madrid fight back to beat Mallorca 2-1

Soccer Football - LaLiga - Real Madrid v RCD Mallorca - Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid, Spain - May 14, 2025 Real Madrid's Jacobo Ramon celebrates scoring their second goal with Real Madrid's Jesus Vallejo REUTERS/Susana Vera MADRID (Reuters) - Real Madrid's Jacobo Ramon scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to earn them a 2-1 LaLiga win over Mallorca on Wednesday that kept Barcelona's title-winning champagne on ice. While Madrid have two games remaining, they are four points behind leaders Barca, who have a game in hand and will claim their 28th LaLiga title on Thursday if they beat city rivals Espanyol. An angled strike from inside the box by defender Martin Valjent in the 11th minute gave Mallorca the lead in a dour match at a half-empty Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Kylian Mbappe levelled with a fine individual effort in the 68th minute for a depleted Real, who were missing 12 players due to injuries and wasted several chances. Mallorca weathered a storm as Madrid pushed for a winner, with goalkeeper Leo Roman producing a remarkable performance. Yet a mistake by the visitors' defence, who failed to clear a cross from inside the box, allowed Ramon to pounce on the ball and fire a volley into the back of the net to keep Real's slim title hopes alive.
