Jesy Nelson shares new pic of twins and opens up about 'heartbreaking' ICU stay

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson, 33, has opened up about the emotional challenges she faced after the premature birth of her twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Jesy Nelson has shared an emotional glimpse into her difficult journey in intensive care, posting a heartfelt update alongside a new snapshot of her twin daughters. The 33-year-old singer, formerly of Little Mix, recently revealed she and partner Zion Foster have become parents to twin girls - Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster. In a touching Instagram post, Jesy opened up about the overwhelming experience of having her newborns placed in neonatal intensive care (NICU). She wrote: "Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU. ‌ "It's the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies. Naturally as a mother you just want to hold them and comfort them when they cry but you can't because there are what feels like a million wires coming out of them. ‌ "Tubes and masks in the way with people poking and prodding them, it breaks your heart into a million pieces. But slowly as the days go by and they get stronger and wires start to come away, moments like this feel like a dream. "Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe. The strongest little girls I've ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell." Her post was quickly met with an outpouring of support. Celebrities and followers alike took to the comments to show their love. Actress Kym Marsh responded warmly: "This is beautiful xx." Meanwhile a fan commented: "They're so strong, just like their mama." Another echoed: "Everyday that goes past you all get stronger and stronger. Everyone is so proud of you and your babies." Someone else gushed: "Nothing can prepare you mama. I been where you are. You are amazing, strong and absolutely immensely powerful. The journey has just begun, it gets better from here on out. Congratulations to you both. Enjoy every second." ‌ Jesy gave birth following a high-risk pregnancy. She had remained in hospital after being diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) - a rare condition where blood is unevenly shared between identical twins connected by a single placenta. It comes after Jesy announced that her brave newborn twins will be shown for the first time on screen - as part of a new six part documentary about her pregnancy and what she describes as a "new chapter in her life". ‌ Fans will get the inside track on the ups and downs of Jesy's tricky pregnancy and get to meet the twins in a Prime series. The streaming giants have officially confirmed the project with Jesy as she shared a photo on social media. Jesy said: 'I feel so excited and proud that we can finally reveal we have been filming our own series for Amazon! We met with the creative director Demi doyle and Producer Gavin Evans at Navybee and letting the cameras in wasn't an easy decision for us as it's such a deeply personal time but I knew I wanted to tell my story in my own words. ‌ "We opened the doors fully and I'm really looking forward to letting you all in as I navigate my way to becoming a first time mum to our beautiful baby girls Ocean and Story. I'll be honest, it's not been easy as it's been such a high risk pregnancy, so you'll see all the highs and lows and rollercoaster of emotions we have been going through. "I hope you will all join me on this journey as I really open up and say goodbye to the past and enter this new chapter in my life. I hope you love it as much as we do." Prime have said she will "share her truth like never before" and the footage will include "weekly hospital visits and candid conversations" as well as the unwavering support of her loved ones. However, the documentary isn't just about motherhood, she will confront her past and on this series she will open up about the life-altering decision to leave Little Mix in 2020, breaking her silence on the relentless pressures of fame, the battle with mental health and the controversies that followed. It will then continue with her new chapter with Zion and the twins.

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson to ‘say goodbye to the past' in docuseries

The six-part series, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, will also follow the star through her high-risk pregnancy in the run-up to the premature birth of her twins, born this month. Nelson, 33, is best known for being a former member of the pop group Little Mix, which rose to fame after winning X Factor in 2011. After nearly a decade together, with chart-topping singles including their winning song Cannonball, Shout Out To My Ex and Wings, the singer decided to leave the group in December 2020. The docuseries will take a closer look into her decision to leave Little Mix, her struggle with mental health and fame, as well as the journey of motherhood. Nelson said: 'Letting the cameras in wasn't an easy decision for us as it's such a deeply personal time, but I knew I wanted to tell my story in my own words. 'We opened the doors fully and I'm really looking forward to letting you all in as I navigate my way to becoming a first time mum to our beautiful baby girls Ocean and Story. 'I'll be honest, it's not been easy as it's been such a high-risk pregnancy, so you'll see all the highs and lows and rollercoaster of emotions we have been going through. 'I hope you will all join me on this journey as I really open up and say goodbye to the past and enter this new chapter in my life. I hope you love it as much as we do.' Nelson announced her pregnancy with her partner, musical artist Zion Foster, in January and has documented her complications on her social media including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, a rare and potentially life-threatening condition which has been described by the NHS as an abnormality of the placenta. She gave birth to the two twins Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, on May 15 saying in an Instagram caption: 'Our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days.' 'It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We've never felt more in love.' After leaving the girl group, Nelson released two songs as a solo artist, Boyz, which featured US rapper Nicki Minaj in 2021 and in 2023 released the single Bad Thing. Prime Video UK's Hannah Blyth said: 'The series will offer an intimate look at Jesy's journey — a powerful account that's never been told before – and we are extremely grateful to Jesy for opening up her life to the cameras during such a pivotal and impactful year for her, as she embraces new motherhood and reflects on her experiences beyond the headlines. 'We're confident that our Prime Video audience will be deeply moved by her honesty and strength as she finds new clarity and speaks her truth in this next chapter of her life.' Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix is produced by Navybee and will launch on Prime Video globally.

In April, Jesy underwent an urgent surgical procedure, following the diagnosis of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome - a potentially life-threatening condition for one or both of the twins. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, but it led to a continued hospital stay for Jesy and Zion until the safe arrival of their children.
