AR Rahman thanks PM Modi, CM Fadnavis for WAVES Summit
Grammy and Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman is on a celebratory high, having played a key role in the recently held WAVE Summit 2025 — a grand initiative focused on nurturing young creative talent across India. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Rahman extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis for their visionary support. "Thank you PM Narendra Modi ji for making me part of the advisory board, and CM DevFadnavis ji for the continued support. It's been an honour to witness how WAVESummitIndia is creating such a powerful platform for the young creative minds of India," Rahman wrote. As part of the summit, the maestro unveiled the spiritual and sonorous track 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' from The Waves of India album. He also introduced Jhalaa, a band specially curated through global auditions to celebrate the heritage of Indian classical music. Rahman shared, 'From launching the new song to introducing Jhalaa and performing at the Wonderment Tour premiere, these past four days have been truly enthralling and humbling.' Meanwhile, the musical wizard captivated Mumbai with his much-anticipated Wonderment Tour performance at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, which drew a staggering crowd of over 40,000. The event opened with acts by The Yellow Diary,Anubha Bajaj, and Ridáy, setting the stage for power-packed performances by Sukhwinder Singh, Jonita Gandhi, AR Ameen, Zanai Bhosle, and Rahman himself. The concert featured hits like 'Jai Ho,' 'Aaye Re Toofan,' 'Jinguchaa,' and 'VandeMataram.' But the highlight came when Mohit Chauhan and Dhanush made surprise appearances, joining Rahman live on stage, elevating the energy and leaving fans thrilled. Rahman's creative momentum continues to shine — both as a mentor and performer — setting an inspiring example for artists across generations.

Featuring an ensemble of 12 exceptionally gifted musicians 6 women (singers-dancers) and 6 men (singers & multi-instrumentalists) JHALAA blends the timeless soul of raga-based music with a fresh, contemporary spirit, making this rich tradition both accessible and deeply resonant for today's audiences. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The name JHALAA, drawn from the Hindustani classical lexicon, refers to the exhilarating climax of a raga - a fast paced, rhythmically intense finale that leaves listeners breathless. True to its name, the band embodies this electrifying energy, channeling the emotional depth and layered textures of raga-based music in a way that is both innovative and rooted in tradition. This landmark initiative is the flagship project under the Bharat Maestro(a) Awards, launched earlier this year by music legend AR Rahman to celebrate India's musical heritage and uplift the next generation of classical musicians. Curated by Rahman himself, JHALAA was formed through a global talent search that received more than 500 entries, ultimately bringing together the finest young artists formally trained in Indian classical music and classical dance forms. .boxes3{height:175px;width:153px;} #n img{max-height:none!important;max-width:none!important;background:none!important} #inst i{max-height:none!important;max-width:none!important;background:none!important} 'In the golden eras of Indian classical music, ragas drew inspiration from nature, the seasons, and the changing tides of human emotion. JHALAA seeks to rekindle that connection offering an immersive experience that weaves the moods of nature and the rhythms of life into every performance,' said award-winning composer Khatija Rahman, who, alongside music director & BMA's Advisory Board Member Sai Shravanam and Kannika Urs, Project Head of Jhalaa & Head of KM Musiq, has worked passionately to bring this vision to life. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD JHALAA will feature only live, all-natural instrumentation, with no pre-recorded tracks or digital layering. Laxmanprasad Jaipurwale, Padma Vibhushan Ghulam Mustafa Khan Saab, Kunwar Shyam Ji, and the saint Amir Khusrau Rahmatullah, along with additional compositions by AR Rahman. The launch event is expected to be graced by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who is anticipated to attend the ensemble's inaugural performance at the WAVES Summit—a premier global platform celebrating innovation in culture, art, and technology. 'JHALAA's music is curated with great care to expand the audience for Indian classical art forms.
