Apple and UMG's new Sound Therapy partnership aims to relieve stress with audio — here's how
Apple announced a new Apple Music team-up with Universal Music Group (UMG) for a new curated section dubbed Sound Therapy that is designed to help you "attain clearer focus, deeper relaxation, and better sleep." According to Apple's press release, Sound Therapy is put together using "scientific research" and proprietary technology from UMG. "Sound Therapy harnesses the power of sound waves, psychoacoustics, and cognitive science to help listeners relax or focus the mind," the company says. The feature was designed and "crafted" by Sollos, a "music-wellness venture" within UMG's London studios. The curated selection blends songs that you might be familiar with, like Lewis Capaldi's "Someone You Love," with "special sound waves" that are meant to "enhance" your routines. These sound waves might be "auditory beats or colored noise to encourage specific brain responses." There are three different Sound Therapy playlists inside the Music app that are available now: Apple shared some examples of the types of waves or noise you can expect in the updated songs. "Gamma waves and white noise — a whoosh-like combination of every sound frequency—may help with focusing," the company said. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. On the relaxation and sleep front, you'll get theta waves (relax), delta waves and pink noise (sleep). Pink noise is described as a "deeper, gentler variation" similar to rain or wind, which Apple says could assist you in getting sleep. Pink noise is supposed to feature more "natural" sounds compared to white noise streams. Other familiar artists include Imagine Dragons, AURORA, Jhené Aiko, and Kacey Musgraves. Sound Therapy does require that you have an active Apple Music subscription. Those start at $5.99 for students and $10.99 for individuals. The feature is available now if you want to tune in.

Jhené Aiko returned to what remains of her home following devastating wildfires earlier this year. The R&B singer documented her journey through her burned-down property on social media and offered advice to fans in the process. In her visit, the 37-year-old shared multiple slides via Instagram stories that highlighted the emotional scene. Screenshots of the temporary upload were captured and shared by PEOPLE Magazine. 'finally saw it for myself…3 months later,' wrote the mother of two in one image. The date on the photo is noted as April 7, 2025. 'sometimes a sigh is not enough…you gotta scream 'F————!!!' at the top of your lungs,' she exclaimed in another slide that showed a burned vehicle. 'idk who needs to hear this, but you absolutely MUST cry about it…as often as the feeling comes,' assured the 'Stay Ready' singer. 'Praying for everyone this morning,' elaborated the singer at the time. 'Those who lost their home. those who lost their life's work, those who lost their life. praying for my city. praying for the wild life and lost pets. praying for the world. let suffering be a gift; a lesson in compassion.' Jhené Aiko Sees Burnt Remains of Her Home for the First Time Since L.A. Fires: 'You Must Cry About It'
Jhené Aiko returned home to a devastating sight on Wednesday, May 7. Aiko, 37, documented the experience of returning to the devastation of losing her home to the Pacific Palisades Fire in January, posting a series of photos of the burnt remains of her home on Instagram. In one slide, the "stranger" singer wrote, "finally saw it for myself...3 months later." The following slide read, "sometimes a sigh is not gotta scream 'F------------!!!' at the top of your lungs." The photos showed several burned vehicles and a few surviving Buddha statues in the garden area. The vegetation on the property was charred and the remaining infrastructure was in ruins. In the final slide, Aiko offered words of support for those also affected by the wildfires. "idk who needs to hear this, but you absolutely MUST cry about often as the feeling comes," she wrote. The mom of two revealed she had lost her home in the wildfires in a post on Instagram on Jan. 9. The R&B singer confirmed that she and her son Noah Hasani, 2 — whom she shares with partner Big Sean — and daughter Namiko Love, 16, were safe, but that their home was "gone". "burned to the ground with all of our things inside. Lord have mercy 🙏 Thankful we still have eachother 💙 starting from scratch. My heart is so heavy 💔," the seven-time Grammy nominee wrote at the time. In January, weeks after the fire, Sean, 36, opened up about supporting Aiko through a miscarriage. On an episode of On Purpose With Jay Shetty, the rapper noted that "every situation is difficult" and shared, "so to someone who is experiencing miscarriages, and I can only speak from a man's perspective, I can't speak for a woman, their perspective is the most traumatic, but I can say that, first of all, you're worthy. I don't want you to think you're not worthy." He continued at the time, "I don't want people to think that because they have a miscarriage that they're inadequate or that they're broken." Aiko and Sean have been linked since their collaboration Twenty88 in 2016. Aiko is among countless celebrities to lose a home to the deadly Pacific Palisades fire. Zooey and Emily Deschanel returned to the site of their childhood home in January to find it in ruins. 'It was not a mansion but it was cozy and lovely and unique and perfect to me," the New Girl star, 45, wrote in an Instagram post at the time. 30 were killed across Los Angeles between the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire. The Palisades Fire burned 36.5 square miles and an estimated 6,800 structures, per the Los Angeles Times. Read the original article on People
