China show their might by sweeping four out of five Malaysian Masters titles
PETALING JAYA: China underlined their strength in depth by sweeping four out of five titles at the Malaysian Masters in Bukit Jalil on Sunday (May 25).
The world powerhouse dominated the finals day at the Axiata Arena, with victories in the men's and women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles events.
The winning run began in the mixed doubles, where Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping edged top seeds Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin 21-17, 14-21, 21-16 in an all-China final.
It was a similar story in the women's singles, where top seed Wang Zhiyi came from behind to beat compatriot Han Yue 13-21, 21-13, 21-18.
The dominance continued in the men's singles as Li Shifeng brought more cheers to the Chinese camp with a commanding 21-11, 21-9 win over India's K. Srikanth, who had made an impressive run from the qualifying rounds.
China wrapped up the day with a fourth title in the women's doubles when Liu Shengshu-Tan Ning outplayed Jia Yifan-Zhang Shuxian 21-17, 21-18 in yet another all-China affair.
