Five pink toilets for women opened in 4 cities

Patna: Five pink toilets were inaugurated in four Bihar cities on Thursday as a pilot venture, seeking to ensure women and girls have access to secure, hygienic, and private sanitation spaces, protecting them from public harassment. Two toilets were opened in Patna, while one each in Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Rajgir with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund from Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited. Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary led the inauguration ceremony, along with urban development and housing minister Jibesh Kumar. "The distinctive pink colour serves to identify women-specific toilets, which will be operated and maintained by female staff. These facilities are equipped with essential services, including power supply, water access and maintenance standards, complemented by sanitary pad provision, disposal systems, emergency contact numbers and supervision by women attendants," Kumar said. The Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited is also planning for expansion of the facilities to other cities across the state in subsequent phases.

New municipal bodies to get permanent office buildings: Govt

Patna: To ensure smooth and organised operation of offices in the newly formed municipal bodies of the state, the urban development and housing department has started approving plans to construct administrative and municipal govt buildings. The department has issued orders for the construction of administrative buildings in 15 out of 120 new municipal bodies. This also includes three old municipal councils—Teghra and Balia in Begusarai, and Sheohar, which do not yet have their own office buildings. The order issued by the department says that it is essential for municipal bodies to have permanent office buildings to operate in an organised manner. The department has instructed the new municipal bodies that if their offices are functioning in another building or rented premises, they should select new land according to the prescribed model estimate, obtain a no-objection certificate from the circle officer, and provide it to the department to initiate the building construction process. Jibesh Kumar, minister of urban development and housing department, said that to accelerate the development of urban areas, the construction of permanent administrative buildings in the new municipal bodies will commence soon. He mentioned that those new municipal bodies whose offices are currently operating from community buildings, block offices, rented spaces, farmer buildings, or other premises have been instructed to provide land details, site plans, and no-objection proposals to the department. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo Apart from the three municipal councils, the new municipal councils where orders for administrative building construction have been issued include Akbarnagar, Pawapuri, Katoria, Shekhopur Sarai, Parbatta, Hasanpura, Itarhi, Kako, Muraul, Ghosi, Chandi, and Saraiya.
