‘A central part of what makes Lethbridge special': Public art master plan getting a refresh
The City of Lethbridge is looking for community input to help shape its new public art master plan.
The City of Lethbridge is getting ready to host a range of public engagement sessions to paint the next chapter of the city's public art story.
Throughout this summer, local artists will host creative events where residents can share ideas and help shape the new master plan.
Activities such as bike tours, visioning walls, Indigenous dancing and storytelling will highlight the different voices that make up the city's public art scene.
The city's current master plan was created in 2012 and staff say a lot has changed since then.
They say a refresh was needed.
'Public art is a central part of what makes Lethbridge special. It's really a key part of the identity of the community and the public component of public art is such a big part of it,' said Jillian Bracken, City of Lethbridge community arts and culture manager.
'We strive to install artwork that is engaging and interactive and that people can access in everyday life, so having the public engaged to provide feedback on the future of public art, ideas for locations (and) types of public art that they'd like to see is really important.'
Along with the in-person activities, the city has launched an online survey for residents to fill out.
