Comedian Jim Gaffigan admits he lost 50 pounds using Mounjaro

Jim Gaffigan made a bold admission about his weight-loss journey. The 58-year-old confessed that his transformation was less about willpower and more about convenience, as he credited Mounjaro (tirzepatide) for shedding 50 pounds. "I did appetite suppressants, so it's not like I can even take any pride in it," the comedian shared on "Today." "I was brave enough to stick a needle in my stomach," he joked. The injectable prescription medicine is primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes. "The Skinny" comedian used to weigh 270 pounds, according to People. Despite not taking pride in his weight-loss transformation, he pointed out the benefits Mounjaro has had on his body. "It's great because my knees don't hurt standing up," he explained. "I'm less exhausted… It's always good, you know, like the health benefits, like, 'I'll live longer,'" "But I love it just because I feel better," he said. "It is great. It's beneficial." Gaffigan previously had reservations about the medication. "I had very low expectations because I did know someone that had tried it, and they were like, 'Oh no, I was just nauseous for a week,'" he told People at the time. "I thought my true joy of eating would overpower anything," Gaffigan admitted. "That's some of [the] why I wanted to talk about it, because I almost thought it was kind of odd that people were resistant to talking about it. I don't think there's anything wrong with it." Gaffigan isn't the only celebrity who credited Mounjaro for their slimmed-down figure. Rosie O'Donnell, 63, recently took to social media to share a photo of herself performing stand-up and acknowledging her much smaller frame. "I can't believe this is me now," she captioned the photo, which included the hashtags "#mounjaro,"#weightloss" and "#bodydismorphia." Comedian Amy Schumer additionally praised the effects of Mounjaro in a video clip shared on Instagram in March. In a previous attempt to lose weight, the comedian said she experienced debilitating side effects while using Ozempic for weight-loss purposes. "I wanted to share and keep it 100 with you, that years ago… I tried Wegovy, and I was like puking," said Schumer. "I couldn't handle it…" she referred to her previous weight-loss prescription. However, things appeared to take a turn when she switched to Mounjaro. "My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy, I want to get down more if you know what I mean – I'm talking about sex." Schumer added, "So that's been great, Mounjaro's been great… I'm having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that."

More comedic star power is coming to Delaware this summer, highlighted by the newly announced addition of Jim Gaffigan coming to the Freeman Arts Pavilion in Selbyville. On top of that, two new concerts have been added to the Freeman Arts' 18th season with Locals Under the Lights and Face 2 Face: A Tribute to Elton John & Billy Joel. Below is a preview of all the acts that have been confirmed so far for the Freeman Arts' new season, which launches May 30. One of the biggest names in comedy is Jim Gaffigan, who is on his "Everything Is Wonderful!" tour. The comedian has earned eight Grammy nominations for his comedy albums. In November, his 11th comedy special, "The Skinny," premiered globally on Hulu. The comedy special feeds Gaffigan's fans his fresh-yet-edgy content, ranging from appetite suppressants to parenting teens. Gaffigan has appeared in several TV shows and films like "Super Troopers (1 & 2)," "Bob's Burgers," "Peter Pan & Wendy," "SNL" and more. He even starred in "The Jim Gaffigan Show," which he wrote and produced with his wife, Jeannie, according to his bio on IMDB. His bio also states Gaffigan is a multi-platinum-selling recording artist and the first comedian to hit 1 billion streams on Pandora, plus he's done humorous commentaries on "CBS Sunday Morning'' that led him to win three Emmys. There's a classic comedy bit from Gaffigan's 2006 special, "Beyond the Pale," where he teased his relationship with Hot Pockets, which included him joking about the cheesy treats essentially being a Pop-Tart with meat. He split sides when he poked fun at Hot Pockets for reaching temperatures that tasted like "boiling-lava hot." Jim Gaffigan on Super Bowl LIX and football withdrawal

Well, it's finally here. Today is Super Bowl Sunday. This year it's Super Bowl "LIX," which seems slightly inappropriate, but I guess that's just marketing! I'm excited to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles. But I must admit, I'm also a little bit … sad. You may wonder, "Jim, are you sad because your team didn't make it?" No, it's not that. Is it because the Lions and the Bills couldn't complete their storybook seasons?" It's not that, either. I'm just not looking forward to next Sunday, the Sunday after the Super Bowl. I guess you could say I view the Super Bowl as half-empty. Next Sunday is going to be brutal. Those first couple Sundays after the NFL season are rough. I am always a little lost. Suddenly the day has, like, eight extra hours. I don't know what to do with all the time! NFL games are the background of my Sunday – the games are always on, the sound of crowds cheering, whistles blowing and men grunting? It's comforting to me. If I want to hear the voices of Jim Nantz or Tony Romo, I'll have to watch golf. Or those horrible shoe commercials. Those first couple of non-NFL Sundays feel less like Sundays and more like Monday Eves. Sunday just becomes the day before I have to wake up early to get my kids up to go to school. I mean, I'll watch this show, "Sunday Morning" (I mean, if I'm on). But after that, what am I supposed to do? What do non-NFL fans even do on Sunday? Maybe it's an opportunity. I could go to church! But that would involve going outside, and being around people. I could spend some quality time with my children. Nah, they wouldn't want that, either. I don't know what I'm gonna do – but I'm sure I'll get through it. … maybe. For more info: Gaffigan: The Skinny" on Hulu Story produced by Lucie Kirk. Editor: Libby Fabricatore.
