Western pizza chain expanding to Northern Virginia

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. () — A California-based pizza chain with hundreds of locations across the west coast is making its way to Northern Virginia. Mountain Mike's Pizza, a family-style pizza chain known for its 20-inch mountain-sized pizzas and curly pepperonis, is set to open three locations in Fairfax and Loudoun counties, the company said. The expansion will make Virginia the second state on the East Coast to have a Mountain Mike's, trailing behind Florida. 'After years of brand growth throughout the West, Virginia is another exciting leap forward for Mountain Mike's Pizza as we expand along the East Coast and introduce our legendary crispy, curly pepperonis and community commitment to our twelfth state nationally,' said Jim Metevier, CEO of Mountain Mike's Pizza. 'Following recently announced development activities in Florida, we are proud to partner with a local franchisee to bring Mountain Mike's Pizza to our next East Coast state, and we're confident Virginia will welcome and enjoy our signature restaurant experience for decades to come.' New 'Wicked: For Good' trailer shows continued turmoil in Oz Although the chain has yet to announce the specific locations, the company says that it is collaborating with franchisee Niraj Hemrajani to bring the locations to Northern Virginia. Hemrajani operates multiple franchises in the area, including Popeyes, Subway and Cold Stone Creamery, according to his LinkedIn profile. With over 300 locations across the U.S., Mountain Mike's says Northern Virginia is 'an ideal market' due to its 'many tightknit communities, each with a strong sense of family values.' The chain was founded in Palo Alto, Calif., in 1978 and currently has locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Texas, Colorado, Washington and Wisconsin. Development agreements are in motion for over 15 states, including Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Florida. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
