Wisconsin man gets 35 years for shooting family, killing sister over dirty dishes
He was told to do the dishes — now he will be doing 35 years. A Wisconsin man murdered his sister and shot his parents after he got 'fed up' when they told him to do the dishes, claiming he'd been bullied for years over being unemployed. Jimenez-Rico told police he didn't go on the trip because he couldn't afford it and said his family often 'gangs up on him because he is unemployed and he feels they bully him.' An autopsy showed she was shot four times in the chest, back, lungs and arm — and died at the scene. Prosecutors say brother shot and killed sister, injured parents in triple Milwaukee shooting
A 32-year-old man is accused of shooting and killing his sister and injuring his parents, after lashing out from what he told detectives was years of bullying. Gerardo Jimenez-Rico of Milwaukee is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of attempted first-degree homicide. In a criminal complaint filed Monday, prosecutors say Jimenez-Rico arrived at a Milwaukee Police Department station the same day the shooting occurred and admitted to the crimes. Jocelyn Jimenez, a 22-year-old woman who is identified as the defendant's sister in the criminal complaint, was killed around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, while two others, a 56-year-old and a 54-year-old identified as his parents, were also shot. They remain hospitalized. All of Jimenez-Rico's charges carry additional modifiers of domestic abuse and use of a dangerous weapon. Jimenez-Rico is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 6 and is booked in Milwaukee County Jail. His bond was set at $1 million on Monday. According to the criminal complaint: Jimenez-Rico told officers he shot his family members after they began to bully him. On Wednesday, they returned from a trip to Mexico and his father began to chastise him for dirty dishes, with his sister later joining in, he said. As the argument continued, Jimenez-Rico said his father told him he needed to "find another place to live." Jimenez-Rico said he shot his sister after she armed herself with a knife and did not intend to shoot his mother. He couldn't explain to police why he did. Jimenez-Rico told detectives his bullying had gone on for years and stemmed from him being unemployed. "(Jimenez-Rico) said he was just fed up with putting up with the bullying from his father and his sister," a detective wrote in the criminal complaint. Two others were also in the home at the time of the shooting, a 3-year-old child and a "cognitively delayed adult." A GoFundMe for the family has raised nearly $10,000 as of Monday evening.
