Nashik man & dad held for cheating woman through matrimony site

Nashik: The Mumbai Naka police arrested a 26-year-old man and his 53-year-old father in connection with a case of cheating and rape, punishable under relevant sections of the BNS. The two men were remanded in 14-day judicial custody on Tuesday. Assistant inspector Jitendra Wagh, of the Mumbai Naka police station, said a woman filed a complaint on May 15. The woman claimed she had met a man named Mustafa Jogilkar on a matrimony site in Jan this year. After assuring her of their imminent marriage, he maintained a physical relationship with her intermittently. Gaining her trust, he compelled her to purchase a motorcycle and a sedan in her brother's name. He subsequently seized the car and motorcycle from her, sold them, and defrauded her of approximately Rs 24 lakh before abandoning her. Wagh said during the investigation, authorities discovered that the accused had profiles on various matrimony sites under different names to deceive women. In one instance, he married a woman and defrauded her of Rs 1.9 crore. As his father provided support, he was also arrested in Raigad. The victim from Mahim, Mumbai, is expected to file a case soon, said Wagh.
