Five BKI operatives arrested from Amritsar
Five members of Pakistan-ISI backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) were arrested from Amritsar, police said on Wednesday. Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the accused, having links with foreign-based gangster Jiwan Fauji, were planning to carry out grenade attacks on police establishments in the state. This comes amid a series of grenade attacks that have rocked police establishments, religious places and residences of high-profile persons in Punjab since November last year. Those arrested have been identified as Naresh Kumar alias Babbu of Haripura, Abhinav Bhagat alias Abhi, Ajay Kumar alias Ajju and Sunny Kumar, all residents of Haripura in Amritsar, and a 17-year-old juvenile. A hand grenade and a country-made .32 pistol, along with five live cartridges, were recovered from their possession. The DGP said the accused were helping gangster Jiwan Fauji to recruit and radicalise youngsters in Punjab's border districts to carry out criminal activities. They had been provided with motorcycles to retrieve weapons' consignments from the Ajnala sector, he added. Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that one of the accused, Ajay Kumar, tried to escape during a follow-up recovery operation. He allegedly snatched a cop's service weapon and opened fire but was shot in the leg and nabbed. He is undergoing treatment at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar, Bhullar added. The police commissioner added that the arrested accused had provided logistics support and an Activa scooter to the assailants, who fired at Karyana Store owner recently at Mahal village in Amritsar. The accused have been booked under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Islamabad police station.

5 members of Babbar Khalsa International terror module linked to gangster Jiwan Fauji held
Amritsar: The commissionerate police here have arrested five members of a Pak-ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module linked to foreign-based gangster Jiwan Fauji . The arrested accused have been identified as Naresh Kumar alias Babbu of Haripura, Abhinav Bhagat alias Abhi, Ajay Kumar alias Ajju, and Sunny Kumar, all residents of Haripura in Amritsar, and a 17-year-old boy, director general of police (DGP), Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, informed on Wednesday. Police teams also recovered one hand grenade and one pistol along with five live cartridges from their possession. The DGP said gangster Jiwan Fauji, currently living abroad, was operating a terror module with the help of the arrested accused persons. He said the arrested persons were actively plotting to target police establishments with grenades. Further investigations are going on to establish forward and backward linkages in the case, Yadav added. Sharing more details, commissioner of police, Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said during a follow-up recovery operation, Ajay Kumar attempted to escape by snatching a service weapon and opening fire at the police team. 2 of terror module sustain bullet injury in encounter in Amritsar
Two operatives of a terror module were arrested after an encounter near Ramdas city, the Amritsar police said on Monday. Identified as Vishal Masih and Lovepreet Singh, alias Love, both hailing from Jafarkot, the accused opened fire at police personnel while they were being chased, director general of police Gaurav Yadav stated in a social media post. Policemen retaliated, following which both received bullet injuries in their legs. The DGP said weapons and explosives were seized from the accused who belong to the Jiwan Fauji terror module. Maninder Singh, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Amritsar rural), said, the police had received a tip-off about the accused. 'When we were following them, they fired at cops. Both were shot in legs. They have been admitted to a hospital,' he added. An FIR under the Explosives Act and the UAPA has been registered at the Ramdas police station. Further investigation is underway to expose their entire network and prevent any terror activity, the DGP said.
