David Beckham reveals his mum ‘hasn't stopped crying' as they reunite for surprisingly budget meal out
LUNCH WITH A KNIGHT It comes as David's son Brooklyn has remained quiet about his dad's knighthood , Showbiz Reporter DAVID Beckham today revealed how his mum "hasn't stopped crying", as he reunited with his family for a surprisingly budget meal out. The soon-to-be knighted star, 50, took to social media to share he was enjoying some quality time with his mum Sandra, 76, and his sister Joanne, 43. 5 5 5 It's been an emotional few days for Becks, ever since it was revealed on Friday that he set to become Sir David. To celebrate the occasion the much-loved star took his family out to lunch at Tony's Pie & Mash shop in East London. Fans might be surprised to hear that multi-millionaire David treated his mum and sister to a budget lunch, where meals go for around £6. But the restaurant is one of the star's favourite places to eat, and he has often shared pictures of him eating the traditional East End grub there. The trio were there to celebrate David finally getting his knighthood. Taking to social media to celebrate the occasion, he posted a picture with Sandra and Joanne, as they got ready to eat their pie and mash lunch. David wrote next to the sweet snap: "Mum cried when she arrived, cried during lunch and cried when I was leaving x special moment for us all ❤️ love you mum x @sandra_beckham49 ( Dads next) @tedbeckhamdavid @tonyspieandmash." When it was announced that the former England star would be getting his knighthood, he posted: "Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour. "To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true.' Becks added: 'It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.' David has been made a knight for his services to sport and to charity, which he said gave him "so much fulfilment". The knighthood means Spice Girl wife Victoria will be known as Lady Beckham - and she 'couldn't be prouder.' Victoria took to social media on Saturday to share a sweet photo hugging her husband, and planting a kiss on his cheek. The fashion designer penned a lengthy caption, which said: 'You've always been my knight in shining armour, but now it's official. Sir @davidbeckham!!! What an honour, I couldn't be prouder of you. 'Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered. 'The way you've touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday. But above all else, I'm so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much xxxx' Victoria wasn't the only one of the Beckham clan to share their congratulations, with Romeo and Cruz both showing their support. However, it was noticed that David's eldest child Brooklyn had once again snubbed his father on a huge occasion.

David Beckham opens up on emotional meeting with his mum - and makes lighthearted joke about his dad - after he is FINALLY awarded knighthood
Sir David Beckham has opened up on an emotional meeting with his mum after finally being awarded a knighthood. The former England captain said he 'never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour', as his Spice Girl wife Victoria also became Lady Beckham. Beckham had previously missed out when a 'red flag' from the taxman blocked him becoming a Sir in 2014. Leaked emails suggested he had savaged the nominations committee as 'unappreciative ****s' and branded their decision 'a disgrace, to be honest', although his office subsequently insisted they had been doctored by a hacker. But that was all behind him last week as Sir David proudly led the King's Birthday Honours list recognising 1,200 people from community champions to cultural icons. Now, the 50-year-old has taken to social media to share an outing with his mum Sandra, 76, and sister Joanne, 43, and detailed how much the honour meant to his parents. Beckham shared a photo of the trio out for lunch at Tony's Traditional Pie & Eel House in Essex, with the newly-knighted star at the front, Sandra next to him and Joanne opposite. All three of them seemed ready to tuck into pie and mash, with Sandra donning a huge grin across her face following the achievements of her son. 'Lunch with mum, haven't seen her since the news,' Beckham captioned the post, accompanied by a welling up emoji, in a post to his 88.1million followers. 'Mum cried when she arrived, cried during lunch and cried when I was leaving x Special moment for us all. Love you mum x.' Earlier this year, Sandra took to Instagram to post a video of a young David crawling for the camera, writing: 'My world... love you lots xx' to mark his 50th birthday. David also revealed that Sandra 'burst into tears' when he was named a King's Foundation ambassador at the start of the year. The former footballer, who has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for 20 years, received the Crystal Award for his ongoing commitment to improving the living conditions of young children. It was also revealed that David was 'addicted' to Victoria when they first started dating, with a worried Sandra forced to try and intervene. He detailed how the meeting was a 'special moment for us all' after revealing his family were 'so patriotic and proud to be British' The day before Sir David was knighted, meanwhile, he was seen chatting with the King at a St James's Palace ceremony for the monarch's foundation. He has been made a knight for his services to sport and to charity. He said: 'Growing up in east London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour. 'To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true.'
