Woman held for job fraud
The Job Racket Wing of Avadi City Police has arrested a woman for allegedly cheating several job aspirants after receiving money on the pretext of arranging jobs in government hospitals.
The suspect has been identified as S. Jothi alias Madhuri, of Minjur and was arrested following a complaint from Kumar. The complainant alleged that at the time of Covid-19 lockdown, the suspect claimed that she was working as an assistant to the dean of Government Multi Specialty Hospital at Omandurar Government Estate and claimed that there were vacancies at the hospital for the posts such as helper, lab technician, nurse and physiotherapist. She promised to get jobs on payment of a commission. Believing her words, the complainant and his relatives paid over Rs. 10 lakh through digital wallet from 2023. Thereafter she failed to get jobs as promised and to return the money.
On investigation, police arrested Jothi alias Madhuri and remanded to judicial custody.
